When Sun Xiaoyan was seen at the Longnan Kangshen Tartary Buckwheat Distillery in Yantai Village, Wudu District, Longnan City, Gansu Province, she was working with the staff in the packaging workshop. Sun Xiaoyan, 51, was born in a poor peasant family in Yangjiaba Village, Longxing Township, Wudu District, Longnan City. In 1983, after graduating from high school, she went to work in a state-owned auto repair shop. In 1987, when the auto repair shop closed down, Sun Xiaoyan borrowed more than 20,000 yuan to open a department store. In early 2005, Sun Xiaoyan, who had a little savings, opened a restaurant in Dongjiang Town. The restaurant business has just picked up. Due to the renovation of Dongjiang New District, the restaurant has to be demolished. The process of starting a business is full of bitterness, but Sun Xiaoyan is not discouraged. This time, Sun Xiaoyan's eyes were fixed on a Tartary buckwheat wine once sold by a Wenxian wine merchant in a restaurant.

In early 2007, a Tartary buckwheat winery in Wen County, Gansu Province was in trouble because of its business philosophy and sales strategy. Sun Xiaoyan took out the 70,000 to 80,000 yuan earned by opening a restaurant and borrowed 120000 yuan from a friend, and decided to take over the Tartary buckwheat winery that was on the verge of closing down. Her idea is opposed by her family and friends, but persistent Sun Xiaoyan believes that as people pay more and more attention to food safety and health, Tartary buckwheat wine will certainly be recognized by more and more people. In March 2007, Sun Xiaoyan took over Kangshen Tartary Buckwheat Wine Company as chairman. In December of the same year, based on Kangshen Company and major Tartary buckwheat growers, the Longnan Tartary Buckwheat Professional and Technical Association was established, with Sun Xiaoyan as president. Later, Kangshen Tartary Buckwheat Farmers' Professional Cooperative was established, and she served as chairman. In this way, Sun Xiaoyan stepped onto the stage of entrepreneurial management.
"when the factory first took over, there were so many difficulties that people were out of breath, and at one point they even doubted their choice. If we had backed out at that time, there would not have been a winery today. " Sun Xiaoyan recalled her difficult entrepreneurial journey and could not hide her inner excitement, sometimes wiping tears, sometimes gratified.
Sun Xiaoyan went to Sichuan many times to hire senior technicians to the winery to carry out on-site training. With the joint efforts of the technical staff of the winery, starting with improving the product quality, using the microorganisms provided by scientific research institutes for koji making and yeast culture, the koji suitable for Tartary buckwheat fermentation was developed through continuous practice. as a result, the problems of bitter taste and bad taste of Tartary buckwheat wine were solved completely. At the same time, actively develop a series of products, constantly extend the product chain, while making wine from Tartary buckwheat, carry out intensive processing of Tartary buckwheat. At present, more than 10 Tartary buckwheat series products such as Tartary buckwheat tea, Tartary buckwheat vinegar and Tartary buckwheat noodles have been developed.
In order to make the Tartary buckwheat industry stronger and bigger, Sun Xiaoyan boldly innovated and broadened her development ideas and adopted the management model of "company + cooperative + base + farmers". She and cooperative members went to Wudu, Dangchang, Lixian, Wen County and other counties and towns suitable for growing Tartary buckwheat, went from village to house, actively publicized Tartary buckwheat planting technology and the market prospect of Tartary buckwheat industry development to the public, and signed more than 980 targeted purchase agreements. At the same time, it provides loan guarantee for buckwheat farmers, assists large growers and acquisitions in handling preferential agricultural loans, and distributes Tartary buckwheat seeds. Since 2010, more than 50 tons of Tartary buckwheat seeds have been distributed in more than 10 townships every year, and all of them have been recycled after harvest at the end of the year. In this way, it has not only effectively promoted the large-scale cultivation of Tartary buckwheat, opened up new channels for people in mountainous areas to increase income, but also ensured the adequate supply of raw materials and product quality for the company.
In order to build Kangshen Wine Company into a unique modern enterprise and create a characteristic brand of Longnan Tartary buckwheat, Sun Xiaoyan manages the enterprise in accordance with modern enterprise management. She said: "Wine-making is not only a test of raw materials and craftsmanship, but also a test of people. Only by striving for excellence in each process can we produce mellow wine." She also put forward the production regulation that "Kangshen Tartary buckwheat wine should never be blended, every drop must be brewed."
In order to open the market, Sun Xiaoyan took the salesperson with wine to the major hotels in Wudu and to the hotels in the counties of Longnan and Tianshui, Lanzhou, Chengdu, Guangyuan, Mianyang and other cities. The company has also set up sales points in Longnan counties and Tianshui, Lanzhou, Guangyuan and other cities.
Over the past nine years, under the painstaking management of Sun Xiaoyan, the production scale of Kangshen Tartary buckwheat wine has been expanding, the output and profits have increased year after year, and 27 laid-off workers have been re-employed. Thanks to the hard work of Sun Xiaoyan and the company's staff, Kangshen Tartary Buckwheat Wine won the "Houji Award" of the 15th China Yangling Agricultural High Association, the "Gold Award" of the Ninth China International Agricultural products Fair, and the trademark of "buckwheat" won the "famous Trademark of Gansu Province". Sun Xiaoyan was awarded by the provincial government as "the leader of returning hometown entrepreneurship" and the "first Youth Entrepreneurship Award" by the Provincial Party Committee of the Communist Youth League.
