When a soldier ran a factory, he finally picked up the "golden treasure" in the watermelon field.

Xin Guohui is a 47-year-old native of Dayan Village, Guobei Town, Dongxing District, Neijiang City. More than 20 years ago, he had three years' experience as a soldier. "he worked in Xuzhou before becoming a soldier, and returned to Xuzhou for a few years after becoming a soldier." Xin Guohui said.

Later, because he wanted to start a business, Xin Guohui returned to his hometown of Neijiang and began to set up factories and farming. "the factory is a joint-stock system, so I invested some money, but I didn't manage very much. Later, because of the poor efficiency in the factory, it was not done. " The factory co-operated with friends did not benefit Xin Guohui, but also lost money.

"later, what it looked like in 1996, I thought of farming." Xin Guohui began to raise pigs, for the first two years, the market wool pork can be sold for more than 6 yuan per jin, which let him have some profits. But since then, because of the decline in the pork market, the pig industry has become more and more lossmaking.

Because he once served as a soldier, in Xin Guohui's character, there has always been a spirit of perseverance and not afraid of hardship. Although his previous ventures ended in failure, it did not stop him from holding on.

In 2007, through previous investigation and research, he learned that there was a shortage of watermelons in Neijiang market. "at that time, many watermelons in Neijiang market were purchased and sold from those places in Gansu." Therefore, Deng Gang began to grow watermelons in his hometown.

The process persists in picking up the "treasure" in the face of hardship.

Xin Guohui also encountered many difficulties in the process of growing watermelons, because he had lost money on running a factory and raising pigs, so the lack of funds was the first problem to be solved when growing watermelons.

"ask relatives to raise money." Xin Guohui said that at that time, he had a start-up capital of tens of thousands of yuan, plus borrowed 140000 from relatives, and finally he invested more than 200,000 yuan and contracted more than 20 mu of land to grow watermelons.

Sowing at the beginning of the year, watermelons planted in May began to appear on the market. However, the situation is not plain sailing, "the first two years do not understand technology, watermelon production is small, and the size is also small." In the first two years, the watermelons planted by Deng Gang were at a loss. Xin Guohui said, "after slowly mastering the technology and continuous improvement, coupled with learning how to control diseases and insect pests, the yield of watermelon has changed a lot."

Today, Xin Guohui's watermelon land has been transformed from more than 20 mu to a rural professional cooperative with more than 400 mu. Deng Gang said, "after the benefits of watermelons slowly improved, relatives and villagers around them saw the benefits and wanted to grow watermelons, so they set up a professional cooperative for farmers in Neijiang Dongxing District, and Xin Guohui was the chairman of the cooperative. usually, in addition to helping to impart technology to the villagers of the cooperative, they are also busy with the sale of watermelons.

Xin Guohui said that now the income per mu of watermelon land is about 8,000 yuan, and the income is stable. Xin Guohui said that now in the planting base, in addition to watermelons, he also grows yams and grapes. Next, with the help of the government, he is also prepared to grow dragon fruit and blueberries to make himself rich, but also to increase the income of the villagers and themselves.
