Last Updated: 2024/09/19, A university student in Pingchang returned to his hometown as a "chicken herd" to lead his fellow villagers to become rich together.

In February this year, at the award ceremony of "the most Beautiful people of Pingchang" held in Pingchang County, we met a young man in his 20s who wore glasses. He was a college student who came out of a large farmhouse in Feilong Village, Qiujia Town, Pingchang County. Wang Hongren, who is now back as a chicken shepherd in his hometown. His identity also includes: deputy to the people's Congress of Bazhong City, member of Jiusan Society, chairman and general manager of Sichuan Qiming Agricultural Science and Technology Development Co., Ltd., he was praised as "the most beautiful entrepreneur of the most beautiful Pingchang people" by the Pingchang county party committee and county government.

In July 2010, 24-year-old Wang Hongren graduated from China Agricultural University with a bachelor's degree in animal science. At that time, Wang Hongren faced two precious opportunities in his life: either to pursue a master's degree at the University of Adelaide or Macquarie University in Australia, or to work in Cofco. However, he gave up these two opportunities and made a decision that shocked everyone: to go back to his hometown to raise chickens.

"what? Come back to raise chickens!? " When he learned that his nephew Wang Hongren was determined to go home to raise chickens, his father Wang Qiang was dismayed. "those who graduated from China Agricultural University did not study abroad or work as white-collar workers in state-owned enterprises, but they came back to be a 'chicken shepherd,' so they were laughed off."

The villagers' criticism, relatives' opposition, and parents' complaints did not shake Wang Hongren's determination to start a business. "I am the son of an out-and-out farmer. I grew up in the countryside and was very kind to every plant and tree in my hometown. I majored in zoology, and I want to use what I have learned to start a business. This is not a disgrace to you. " He worked for his parents and patiently explained that after Wang Hongren's hard work, his parents were finally persuaded, and many relatives and friends also expressed understanding and support.

After extensive and in-depth investigation and demonstration, Wang Hongren decided to invest in intensive laying hens. In September 2010, he spent all his family savings and borrowed more than 300,000 yuan from relatives and friends to invest in the pre-construction of the project, but soon there was a shortage of funds, so he had to borrow it everywhere. I don't know how many times he went, how many good words he said, and how much he was given the cold shoulder. In that unforgettable day, Wang Hongren fully tasted the warmth of the world and experienced the bitterness of life.

In February 2011, the first batch of 10000 laying hens was officially put into production. However, the market was weak and the sales market plummeted. Looking at the warehouse full of eggs, he was so anxious that he had to run around to open new sales channels. In the most difficult time, he carried eggs on his motorcycle and asked door to door along the noodle, restaurant and cake shops along the provincial highway S201, selling them one by one, thinking that he could sell one case to another. In this way, he has run through dozens of surrounding villages and towns.

After dozens of visits to Dazhou, Chongqing and other places, we finally found cooperative customers and initially solved the problem of product sales. As the market price of the product has been hovering low, Wang Hongren lost more than 200,000 yuan this year.

At this time, his family's confidence in him to continue to start a business also began to shake, complaining that he not only did not make money, but was burdened with debt, and tried to persuade him to go to the big city to find a stable job. However, with an accurate grasp of the country's agricultural industrial policy and a high degree of confidence in modern agricultural science and technology and his own professional accomplishment, Wang Hongren was infatuated with it and quickly got rid of the shadow of the failure of his first venture and decided to fight against the backwater and start all over again.

In 2012, Wang Hongren's industrial project attracted the attention of the county party committee and county government, and received project support from relevant departments, which increased his confidence and confidence. As a result, he raised debt again, adjusted the positioning of products in time, introduced new varieties more suitable for local consumption habits, and actively expanded new sales markets to sell products to large and medium-sized cities such as Chengdu, Chongqing and Dazhou. At the same time, he boldly launched the under-forest ecological breeding project of local native chicken breeds. In this crucial year, the market opportunity finally came, and the product market continued to rise. The enterprise not only came back from the dead, but also achieved considerable benefits, with a profit of more than 500,000 yuan that year. He finally earned the first bucket of gold in his life and tasted the sweetness of success for the first time.

In order to expand the scale of breeding, Wang Hongren launched the "Bashan Red Chicken" industrial project in Wanxing Village, Qiujia Township. Today, his laying farm covers an area of more than 300,000 mu, raising 90,000 laying hens, producing 80,000 fresh eggs a day, and an annual income of more than 1000 million yuan. Wang Hongren has become a veritable "king of raising chickens."

Wang Hongren succeeded in starting his business. His breeding base has not only been officially authorized by China Agricultural University as the scientific research practice base of China Agricultural University and the demonstration base of the southwest area of grain-saving small layers of "Agricultural University No. 3", but also undertaken many research projects of the laying hens task group of China Agricultural University. it was also rated as a standardized demonstration farm in Bazhong City and a pollution-free livestock and poultry producing area in Sichuan Province. His products "Kezhen Ecological Egg" and "rare fresh Egg" both won the "pollution-free Agricultural Product Certificate" issued by the Ministry of Agriculture. His products are popular all the way, favored by consumers inside and outside the province, not only by several supermarkets in the county, but also exported to Dazhou, Chongqing, Guangzhou and other places.

The successful Wang Hongren has never forgotten the original intention of leading his hometown elders to become rich together. At the beginning of 2013, he joined with more than 60 surrounding farmers to raise 3.3 million yuan and registered to establish the "Qiming Ecological breeding Cooperative of Pingchang County", which absorbed more than 500 members and formed a scale of 100000 grain-saving laying hens and more than 300,000 free-raised native chickens. The annual output value of the cooperative is more than 30 million yuan, and the average annual income of farmers is 3000 yuan.
