The dream of getting rich with vegetables by college students as "village officials"

Xu Peipei, a graduate of animal and plant quarantine at Hebei Agricultural University, went to a market in the spring of 2013 to buy vegetables when she found that a young couple had a "virus disease" in their zucchini, so she came forward to ask about the situation. Knowing that the vegetable farmers came from Li Lou Village, Daluzhuang Township, Linxi County, Xingtai City, Hebei Province, Xu Peipei immediately contacted the branch secretary of Li Lou Village and rushed to the vegetable greenhouse in Li Lou Village that afternoon to summon vegetable farmers to explain the harm of virus diseases on the spot and tell them how to prevent and control them. From then on, Xu Peipei became a "specially hired vegetable technician" in Li Lou Village.

In January 2015, Xu Peipei officially came to Li Lou Village as deputy secretary of the village branch and became a university student "village official". With her help and efforts, Li Loucun registered the "Guangyin" vegetable trademark, set up a special cooperative, and had its own sales team. The vegetable greenhouse in Li Lou Village has grown from 40 at the beginning to more than 120 now, and its per capita income has increased from more than 3200 yuan three years ago to more than 9500 yuan now. Li Lou Village has taken the lead in lifting itself out of poverty among the poverty-stricken villages in the county.

Xu Peipei began to serve as the first secretary of the Li Lou Village branch in January 2016. she plans to expand another 50 winter-warm greenhouses within two years to realize her dream of leading villagers to grow vegetables to become rich.
