His confidence comes not only from the white shrimp itself, but also from the accurate grasp of the market. Sea shrimp is fresh, cheap, high-protein "seafood". The production of finished white shrimp mainly faces the vast number of hotels, guesthouses, farms and the general public, etc., with a great daily demand, which belongs to "civilian seafood". Market research also shows that there are few large-scale breeding bases for this kind of "sea shrimp light culture" in Zhenjiang and Nanjing, so there are broad prospects for large-scale culture of Penaeus vannamei in Sizhuang.

Guard against risks and guarantee income by value-added

Wu Guotao knows very well that farmers' money is hard-earned money and can't stand the trouble. In order to reduce the breeding risk of farmers, he did his homework before breeding. Wu Guotao told us that whether aquaculture is successful or not depends on three steps: clearing the pond, selecting seedlings and raising. Cleaning pond is to use quicklime or other drugs to kill pests in the pond and remove too much organic waste from the bottom of the pond before entering the water to release seedlings, so as to improve the survival rate and yield of seedlings; the purpose of seedling selection is to select the seedlings of Penaeus vannamei, which is robust and lively, uniform size, clean body surface, full intestine, sensitive response, high body transparency, no focus and strong vitality. In the daily management, the pond was patrolled every morning, middle, evening and midnight to observe the water color and shrimp activity, growth and satiety rate, in order to adjust the feeding amount and whether to turn on the aerator or not.

However, because Penaeus vannamei is cultivated in the open air, the biggest risk is the weather, which is limited to many weather factors, and the influence of force majeure factors should be considered. finally, it is necessary to prevent the occurrence of diseases caused by bad weather. Shrimp seedlings are mainly transported by air from the coasts of Hainan and Guangdong, which virtually increases the cost of breeding. At the same time, long-distance shrimp seedlings are also too tired to be conducive to breeding, and may even die, which also increases the risk of breeding. Wu Guotao felt that he should take his fate into his own hands, and he actively explored "local breeding" in order to reduce risks and protect the harvest.

Although Sizhuang Village is dominated by aquaculture, the breeding methods and varieties of most farmers are still at the level of the 1990s. On the basis of accurate positioning of the market and mastering aquaculture technology, Wu Guotao promptly established a professional cooperative for aquaculture in Sizhuang Village, popularizing good varieties and excellent aquaculture techniques. Subsequently, Wu Guotao set up Jurong Luhuoyuan Agricultural products sales Co., Ltd. to package and sell the aquatic products of his project and all the agricultural products in the village, thus establishing a formal sales channel for the sales of agricultural products in the village. At present, the cooperative has led 18 surrounding farmers to raise prawns and more than 60 villagers to find employment on the spot.
