Hu Guohua, 53, an ordinary farmer in Hongling Village, Xiaogang Town, Dongxiang County, Jiangxi Province, became a millionaire by virtue of his new variety of vegetables. Hu Guohua originally worked in other places, but when he returned to his hometown in 2009, he felt that simply growing crops was of low value, so he delved into growing vegetables. In 2013, Hu Guohua found a business opportunity from taro mothers that others did not want. This kind of taro mother, which tastes bitter and rough, was previously only used to grow taro, but Hu Guohua's taro mother can grow golden and tender taro buds. In order to open up the market, the nimble Hu Guohua also sent taro sprouts to South China University of Technology for testing and found that they were rich in amino acids and glutamate, which are beneficial to the human body. Hu Guohua's taro sprouts now have an annual output of 120000 jin, which is sold to many counties and cities in Jiangxi, as well as Zhejiang and Hunan, with a price of about 10 yuan per jin and an annual income of one million yuan.
