In Heerkou Town, Fengkai County, there is a well-known female entrepreneur-Mo Yanjiao. Once a teacher, she has been engaged in agriculture for 16 years, leading farmers in mountainous areas to "dig gold" in the fruit and vegetable industry, constantly trying, making bold innovations and fruitful results in the cultivation, production, processing, and research and development of new products. Recently, the reporter interviewed the female entrepreneur in Fengkai County.

Resign and start a business and join the fruit and vegetable industry

In 1999, when she was still a teacher, she contracted to the Qingmei Garden, to which Wenfeng Primary School in Heerkou Town belongs, and made a profit of 10,000 yuan the next year, which was a large amount for her who was earning more than 300 yuan a month at that time. "at that time, there were not many people growing sugar oranges in the county." Mo Yanjiao said, "but starting a business always requires some adventurous spirit." After various investigation and analysis, in 2001, Mo Yanjiao and his wife rented more than 20 mu of land and put all their savings into sugar orange cultivation. In 2004, fruit trees made a profit of more than 30,000 yuan in the first year, and Mo Yanjiao once again enjoyed the sweetness of agricultural income.

In 2005, with the encouragement and support of her husband Huang Lan, Mo Yanjiao transferred more than 100 mu of mountains and successively planted more than 5,000 tangerines, tangerines and emperor oranges. As the planting of a hundred mu orchard requires more time management, the couple are determined to quit their job as a teacher, devote themselves to developing agriculture, and start their "sweet career".

Never forget the folks on the road to becoming rich

In 2004, when she tasted the benefits of planting fruit trees for the second time, Mo Yanjiao also led the surrounding farmers to grow oranges. Methods and techniques, Mo Yanjiao imparted guidance patiently to all farmers who came to consult and ask for help. Over the past few years, more and more farmers have grown oranges under her lead.

"if agricultural products want to be competitive, they must not only have good quality, but also have their own brands, and use brand strategy to promote efficiency and competitiveness!" Mo Yanjiao said. With the continuous development of local citrus industry, the competition is becoming more and more fierce. At the end of 2008, Mo Yanjiao took the lead in the establishment of the Orange Kang Citrus Cooperative, providing members with technical guidance, agricultural materials distribution and purchasing and sales services. In 2011, Mo Yanjiao established two production lines integrating primary processing, fresh-keeping, polishing and waxing of citrus, and built a factory shed of more than 2000 square meters, expanding the citrus industry. At the same time, it also brings employment opportunities for local farmers, and the brand of "Orange Kang" is getting louder and louder. Guankang Citrus Cooperative won the honorable titles of provincial demonstration society and national demonstration society in 2012 and 2014 respectively.

Braving difficulties and planting in a variety of ways, boldly "touching the net"

At a time when Mo Yanjiao's citrus career was in full swing, many fruit trees suffered from citrus Huanglong disease. While some fruit farmers in the county were cutting down trees and abandoning trees, Mo Yanjiao invested more than 20,000 yuan to build a virus-free nursery and cultivate sugar orange seedlings in a modern greenhouse. "We can't just sit back and wait to die." Mo Yanjiao pointed to the vibrant saplings in the nursery.

While fighting against Huanglong disease, Mo Yanjiao also began to think about how to maximize the benefits of mountain land. As a result, Mo Yanjiao and her husband Huang Lan decided to diversify planting while expanding the planting scale, and set up a professional agricultural company to develop modern characteristic agriculture. In the first half of 2015, after a remote inspection, Mo Yanjiao and his wife found that Ziyu Huai Mountain had high nutritional value and good market prospects, so they decided to focus on developing Ziyu Huai Mountain, planted 35 mu in April, and signed a planting contract with more than a dozen farmers.

In December 2015, the couple established Fengkai County Lufengrun Agriculture Co., Ltd. to develop modern agriculture with the model of "company + cooperative + base + peasant household". It has five cooperatives with more than 500 members, driving more than 2000 peasant households. Ziyu Huaishan, citrus, Qilin plum, oil chestnut, residue-free bamboo taro, purple potato and other characteristic agricultural products are mainly planted, covering an area of more than 5000 mu. In the same year, Lufengrun Modern Agricultural Fruit and vegetable Base in Fengkai County was awarded as one of the ten "demonstration bases for Women's Entrepreneurship in Zhaoqing City in 2015" by the Municipal Women's Federation.

From teachers to farmers, from farmers to company directors, Mo Yanjiao said, "the relationship with the closed land is getting deeper and deeper." Standing on the enclosed land, the bigger her step, the faster she walked. She said that she hopes to use three to five years to establish an agricultural e-commerce platform to realize the docking of agricultural supermarkets, agricultural businesses, agricultural schools, and agricultural enterprises, and to let the closed characteristic agricultural products out of the mountains.
