Yang Guowen, 67, is the oldest village secretary in more than 60 villages in Hongsibao District, Wuzhong City.

From Tongxin to Hongsibao, Yang Guowen has worked as a village branch secretary for 30 years.

Hongsibao's grape industry originated in Central Circle Tangcun. In 2006, Yang Guowen promoted the cultivation of grapes in the village. in the past 10 years, the grape planting area once reached more than 8000 mu, and most of the villagers got rich through grapes. "at most, one mu of grapes can earn more than 10,000 yuan, and many villagers bought cars to build new houses." Yang Guowen said.

Yang Guowen played an important role in the development of grapes in Central Circle Tangcun.

In 2013, extreme weather in Hongsipu was frequent, with freezing disasters in March, wind disasters in April and hail disasters in July. Especially in July, a hail caused 6500 mu of grapes in Zhongquantang Village to be damaged, resulting in a loss of 7 million yuan, and some villagers even had no harvest. At that time, nearly half of the villagers in the village planned to dig vines and changed to planting corn the next year. Yang Guowen and village cadres worked from one household to another until the villagers gave up digging vines.

"the ability of farmers to resist risks is very weak, so it is necessary to make them have confidence in industrial development." In August 2014, learning that policy-oriented agricultural insurance was to be promoted in Hongsibao District, Yang Guowen immediately contacted the Agriculture and Animal Husbandry Bureau and insurance companies, and facilitated the signing of Hongsibao's first agricultural insurance contract between Jiameng Wine Grape planting Professional Cooperative of Zhongquantang Village and Hongsibao Branch Company of China Insurance Company.

In the autumn of 2015, there was a bumper harvest of grapes in the village, but there were problems with sales. Yang Guowen went to the winery every day, and a month later, more than 6000 mu of grapes in Murakami were sold. In the next few months, Yang Guowen ran again so that the villagers could get the grape money earlier, and it was not until January this year, when the winery repaid all 18 million yuan of grape money to the growers through one card, Yang Guowen breathed a sigh of relief.

Today, grape cultivation in Central Circle Tangcun has achieved semi-mechanization from winter burial and release to fertilization and medication. Yang Guowen loves to delve into research and invented a local-foreign lawn mower and sprayer. The villagers who have used it say, "the machine invented by the old branch secretary works well, which is comparable to the big machine."

Two days ago, the owner of a winery in Hongsibao once again found Yang Guowen and hired him to the winery with a high salary to co-manage the enterprise. Yang Guowen declined again.
