With the help of their family, they raised more than 5 million yuan to set up Lirongchang Biological Development Co., Ltd., purchased experimental equipment, built a tissue culture workshop, and leased more than 50 mu of land to build a forest planting base at the foot of Putian Hugong Mountain.

The key to planting under the forest is to master the technology of tissue culture. To this end, they specially went to an enterprise in Zhangzhou for on-the-spot investigation and study for half a month, introducing 150000 yuan of seedlings and planting "painting gourds according to the ladle", but due to natural disasters, Putian environment, different soil and other factors, coupled with lack of experience in planting management, the seedlings were quickly lost.

In order to overcome the technical difficulties of tissue culture, they went to Fuzhou to visit experts from the University of Agriculture and Forestry and the Academy of Agricultural Sciences. At the end of 2013, the base finally succeeded in planting Clematis and Dendrobium candidum. In 2014, they contracted more than 100 mu of land through land transfer to expand the planting base.

Dendrobium candidum and Anoectochilus roxburghii are very similar in growth conditions and many other aspects. after experiments, they started the "three-dimensional planting method", that is, they planted Dendrobium candidum on the trunk of longan tree and planted Clematis in the shade of the tree. "the growth cycle of Dendrobium candidum is long, which takes almost two years. As a result, the management cost of the planting base has increased a lot. Three-dimensional planting is to increase the utilization rate of land and reflect agricultural benefits in the short term. " Cai Weihuang said that the "three-dimensional planting method" is very effective. Longan itself has the effect of health care and treatment. Clematis and Dendrobium candidum planted around longan trees can absorb some of the nutrients of longan trees to optimize their effects, and the quality of longan trees is better.

"this piece of imitating wild planting of Clematis and Dendrobium candidum is a forest treasure, as expensive as gold." At the Dingzhuang planting base, Zhu Guoming, head of the cooperative, said that this under-forest planting base has more than 60 mu. In the past, the annual income of one mu of longan was only more than 2000 yuan, but now the "three-dimensional planting method" is adopted. Longan plus Dendrobium candidum and Clematis, the income has increased several times at a time.

Win the market with good quality

Tissue culture technology has conquered, planting methods are also scientific, the next step is to expand the planting scale, tree brands to enter the market.

Cai Weihuang said that Clematis and Dendrobium candidum had high technical requirements, and considering that most farmers could not grow large areas alone, they organized a group of villagers together to set up cooperatives. At the same time, technical personnel are organized to provide free guidance to villagers in weeding, fertilization and other links, and 400 villagers are trained free of charge every year. "in order to ensure that growers are risk-free, we also sell cultivated seedlings to cooperatives and finally acquire and process them."

At present, in the form of "company (base) + cooperatives + farmers", Li Rongchang has developed five agricultural cooperatives, covering an area of more than 360 mu, driving more than 300 farmers to participate in planting.

Anoectochilus roxburghii and Dendrobium candidum are known as' fairy grass', which have unique health and medicinal effects. In recent years, there are more and more places where 'fairy grass' is planted artificially, and the market competition is becoming increasingly fierce. " Cai Weihuang said, "We have no advantage in a price war. Only by playing a good quality card can we cope with low-price competition."

They have a clear positioning: people have my advantages, with good quality to win the market. Therefore, at the beginning, they chose "Fujian Clematis", which is difficult to cultivate but high in nutrients. The Dendrobium candidum they grow, which is never applied, is an original eco-friendly product; in order to distinguish it from other brands, they register the trademark "Hulan".

"We have customers all over the country." When it comes to marketing innovation, Cai Weihuang said that from the very beginning, they abandoned the traditional wholesale channels and marketed to target consumers through direct sales stores. After that, Cai Weishan, the elder brother of Cai Weihuang, who graduated from the University of Science and Technology and is good at e-commerce, joined in and set up an online store on Taobao and other e-commerce platforms, adopting the "online + offline" model, and the market expanded little by little from Fujian and Guangdong.
