Wu Zenghai told Anqing Evening News that in fact, his family is very poor. At the age of 16, he began to work everywhere in Anhui Province, Shenzhen, Jiangsu and other places. He had worked as a bricklayer and sold vegetables. "at that time, there was no expertise or skills, so they had to work hard to make a living." Wu Zenghai said, "at that time, I always wanted to go back to my hometown and do something."

Finally, after years of hard work, Wu Zenghai returned to his hometown with the money he had saved frugally and set his sights on the scattered lotus ponds of different sizes in the village. In mid-2003, through the coordination of the village department of Xinguang Village, Wu Zenghai contracted 50 mu of fish ponds with all his savings over the years, engaged in breeding grass carp, crucian carp and other aquatic products. In order to take better care of the fish ponds, he built a "small house" of three or four square meters of straw and bamboo beside the fish ponds, regardless of the wind, rain, cold and heat. He earned nearly 50,000 yuan the next year and won the first bucket of gold to start a business.
