Talking about leeches is a bit strange, but talking about leeches is familiar to people who have experienced rural life. It is a creature that drills into human skin and sucks human blood. Today, this daunting "blood-sucking bug" has become a treasure in the hands of Guo Wenyi.

Recently, the reporter walked into the leech farm in Hedong Branch of Zhouji Farm in Qianjiang City and saw Guo Wenyi digging a pool from a distance along a path covered with snail shells. He is the owner of this leech farm.

Looking ahead, the farm has five small pools, one large pool, and a greenhouse hatching pool. "this year, the area of leech farming has increased several times over last year, reaching 10,000 square meters." Guo Wenyi said.

Guo Wenyi, 45, went out for transportation a few years ago, but he has made eye contact with leeches in the past two years. Speaking of the change of identity, Guo Wenyi said with a smile: "leeches are excellent animal herbs. This thing makes money and makes a big profit!" He is the first person to raise leeches at Zhouji Farm. From 2013 to 2014, Guo Wenyi went to Gongan County to study leech farming techniques for two years. Last year, he returned home to make a small fuss and converted 3 mu of land into a leech breeding pond.

Unlike other poultry or aquatic products, the process of raising leeches seems simple, but there are hidden risks everywhere, and technology is the key. Artificial breeding leeches should also follow the natural growth law of leeches and create conditions to meet the requirements of their daily life. Guo Wenyi said that after mating, the leeches spent the winter began to lay eggs at Qingming Festival the following year. After spawning, the young leeches broke their eggs for about 20 to 25 days. At the right temperature, the young leeches broke out and lived in a special "nursery." when the outdoor water temperature reaches 15 degrees, it can be released into the pool. This time is usually around June. Previously, it is necessary to deal with the water environment in the stocking pond, because leeches have high requirements for water temperature and water quality environment. During the growing period, Guo Wenyi went to the culture pond every day to test the water temperature and take good care of the seedlings.

Guo Wenyi mastered the whole process from the introduction, hatching to maturity of seedlings. Last year, nearly 2000 jin of leeches were harvested and received by a vendor in Jiangsu at a price of 75 yuan per jin.

This year, Guo Wenyi planned to expand the regulations early, investing 200000 yuan in new pools and buying 80, 000 yuan of seedlings. He will hatch in the greenhouse in April, and the finished product is expected to be produced around October. The species he raised are wide-bodied golden leeches, which feed on snails, aquatic plants and so on. "if you eat snails alone, it is estimated that you will eat 80,000 yuan this year." Guo Wenyi said that high investment, high risk, but also high returns, profits are expected to reach about 50%.

Today, Guo Wenyi has become a quasi-expert, and many people have come to learn from teachers. He has led four people in Qianjiang Jiyukou and other places to plan to raise leeches to get rich.
