Orchard "strong Girl"
She is the considerate and good secretary of more than 2000 villagers in Liantang Village of Leping City, the director of the cooperative managing more than 1000 mu of pear planting base, and has been elected a model worker in the province and was rated as China's outstanding economic woman. She is the famous fruit industry leader in Leping, Wei Qiuxiang, known as the "strong girl".
However, when we saw Wei Qiuxiang herself, we were surprised. She was petite, with long shawl hair and a beautiful face. She spoke softly and softly. Where is there a trace of "strong girl" appearance?
"I'm not a strong girl, but I'm really not afraid of hardship." Wei Qiuxiang smiled softly at the mention of his "elegant name", as if the frustrations of many years ago had long gone. Wei Qiuxiang was optimistic and excellent in her studies from an early age. After graduating from junior high school, she was admitted to a key high school but failed to study. Instead, she worked early. For more than a decade, she worked for the farm, ran through restaurants, sold insurance, and was admitted to a family planning specialist in the village. although she did not save much money, she opened her horizons, honed her will, and increased her courage.
In 2001, only 30-year-old Wei Qiuxiang and her husband Wei Haican took a fancy to the barren mountains of Liantang Village in Zhongbu Town, their hometown, resolutely contracted 50 mu of barren mountains, and went to Xianju, Liyang, Fuyang, and other places in Zhejiang to inspect the planting of fruit trees, and successfully introduced and planted Cuiguan pear, a new variety developed by Zhejiang Academy of Agricultural Sciences. When the couple were ready to throw off their arms and fight, Wei Haican was found to be suffering from advanced uremia in early 2002, and only a kidney transplant could save lives.
In the rural areas at that time, many people did not believe that kidney transplant could save the living, and relatives and friends also advised Wei Qiuxiang to give up, so as not to "lose both people and money." however, the petite Wei Qiuxiang was determined: "as long as there is a glimmer of hope, I have to change my husband's kidney even if I smash the pot and sell iron." She tried every means to borrow money from classmates, friends and relatives, and collected enough medical expenses to accompany her husband to and from the Shanghai hospital for examination and matching. During the more than 300 days of waiting for the kidney source, Wei Qiuxiang spent day and night in agony. Perhaps it was her firm persistence that touched God. In March 2003, Shenyuan was found, and Wei Haican successfully carried out a kidney transplant.
Her husband was rescued from death by Wei Qiuxiang and continued to live under her meticulous care for nine years. In this long 9 years, Wei Qiuxiang is under the pressure that even a strong man can not bear, especially the economic pressure. The husband spent a total of more than 500,000 yuan on surgery and hospitalization fees, medicine fees and regular review fees after discharge. At that time, cooperative medical care had not yet been implemented in rural areas, and they had to be repaid by themselves, and the early production investment in the orchard required a lot of money. and the son who studies in the urban area has to spend money, so what should we do? Wei Qiuxiang had no choice but to develop the fruit industry and ask the barren mountain for money to pay off the debt.
Years of experience in the work of the village committee and good self-quality have given Wei Qiuxiang different vision and courage. In order to master the scientific and technological planting technology of Cuiguan pear as soon as possible, while taking care of her husband, she bought many business books and materials to study eagerly, and invited experts to work out the overall orchard development plan and guide the garden ploughing, seedling cultivation and other techniques. In just a few years, Wei Qiuxiang learned a full set of skills in the fruit industry, such as branch pressing, pruning, fertilization, pest control, bagging, and so on, and became a well-known "soil expert" in pear planting.
"despite my small stature, I have a lot of guts!" Recalling her entrepreneurial journey, Wei Qiuxiang is very proud. During the growing period of fruit trees, sometimes she was busy until late at night, and she dared to walk a kilometer home alone through the dark mountains and forests. When the fruit trees had their first bumper harvest in 2007, she dared to take her workers to the fruit wholesale market in Fuzhou, Fujian Province to promote her products. later, in order to expand orchard planting, instead of waiting for the agricultural support department to send someone to help, she was determined to work in school and learn in the middle of work. I took care of the project plan, application materials, and account management alone. When the fruit growers mentioned Qiuxiang, they did not give a thumbs up.
Over the past few years, Wei Qiuxiang's fruit trees have been planted better and better. driven by her, many villagers have also begun to embark on the road of fruit planting. In order to improve the planting level of the fruit industry and better resist market risks, Wei Qiuxiang once again showed her courage. She first expanded her planting area from 50 mu to 200mu. At the same time, she led the villagers to build orchards of all 1300 mu of barren mountains in the village, and initiated the establishment of a professional rural cooperative for the cultivation of hundred green fruits in Jiangxi. Cuiguan pear successfully registered the "far sweet" trademark, unified distribution of means of production, unified implementation of technical guidance. Today, the cooperative has 113 fruit farmers, with total assets of more than 4.8 million yuan, and produced more than 2 million jin of fresh fruit last year, with annual sales of more than 10 million yuan and an average annual income of 56000 yuan. The fruit industry in Liantang village has become the leading industry for villagers to shake off poverty and become rich. Wei Qiuxiang has become a veritable bellwether and was elected secretary of the village party branch last year. The professional cooperative led by her was also named as the demonstration cooperative of farmers' professional cooperatives in Jiangxi Province.
