Original title: 23 people were injured when severe convective weather hit Shunde, Guangdong.

On the 12th, the squall line weather system swept across the Pearl River Delta region, and Foshan, Guangzhou, Shenzhen and other places were hit by strong convective weather such as short-term heavy rainfall, thunderstorms and strong winds.

Severe convective weather caused wind disaster in Lecong Town, Shunde District, Foshan. The Shunde district government reported that 23 people in five villages in Lecong town were slightly injured, some factories and trees were damaged, and 3525 electricity users in four villages were without power, and no serious injuries or deaths were reported so far. The meteorological department warned that Guangdong has entered a period of frequent severe convective weather, and it is necessary to pay attention to preventing disasters such as factory sheds, temporary structures, outdoor billboards and tree collapses caused by local lightning, thunderstorms and strong winds. What is "squall line weather"

A squall line (English: Squall line) is sometimes called a squall line. It refers to a medium-to small-scale strong convective weather formed by banded thunderstorms with sudden changes in wind direction and wind speed, which usually accompanies or precedes the cold front. It is very destructive. The generation of squall line is mostly due to the cold air moving to warm and humid areas, resulting in a warm pattern of upper and lower cold, which makes the thermal structure of the upper and lower troposphere different, resulting in high-intensity strong convective weather. Thunderstorms on the squall line are usually composed of several thunderstorm units, so they can produce severe weather changes. In the early 20th century, squall lines were often used as a synonym for a cold front. The typical phenomena of squall line transit are sudden change of wind direction, rapid increase of wind speed, sudden rise of air pressure and sharp change of air temperature. in its heyday, the average wind is more than 10 and the gust is more than 12. It may also be accompanied by thunderstorms, torrential rain, hail, strong straight-line winds, tornadoes and sea tornadoes. Squall lines usually have typical bow-shaped characteristics and are accompanied by strong linear winds. Tornadoes may exist along wavy linear echoes in the presence of mesoscale low pressure. In summer, the bow echo may develop into a super convective storm and pass through a large area at a very high speed. The rear edge of the rain shield is usually accompanied by a mature squall line and a wake low pressure, sometimes even accompanied by a thermal storm. The horizontal range of squall lines is very small, usually only 150 km to 300 km in length, only half km to dozens of km in width and only about 3 km in height. Its maintenance time is generally 4-10 hours.
