It is understood that there are more than 1100 mu of white tea in Huashan Miao Township. Although most of them are new tea gardens and the output has not yet been formed, the villagers are full of confidence. But what is unexpected is that the development of white tea cultivation in Huashan Miao Township stems from a "mistake" many years ago.

In 2009, Yuqing County Tea Office purchased a number of green tea seedlings from other provinces and distributed them free of charge to the poor villagers in Huashan Miao Township. "in the following spring, many of the young leaves of the tea trees were white." Cadres in the township said that there were more than 100,000 albino tea trees, and everyone thought that the tea trees were sick.

Tea tree specimens were sent to the authorities for identification and found that this is a more precious white tea species than ordinary green tea, and the content of amino acids in leaves is much higher than that of other tea varieties.

White tea is a kind of tea with albino leaves. This strange kind of tea is picked only for about 20 days a year, and only when the temperature is between 15 and 25 degrees Celsius can there be albino leaves. And albino tender leaves, if not picked in time, will become the same as ordinary green tea.

"that is to say, we have found the treasure." Cadres who have experienced this "tea disease storm" said that it is estimated that when sellers from outside the province distributed tea seedlings, they mistakenly mixed some white tea seedlings with ordinary green tea seedlings.

Liang Fuzhen, 51, of Huilong Village, said: "White tea was picked in early spring and green tea sold for more than 4000 yuan. Now green tea also sells for more than 1000 yuan." In her family's 1.5 mu tea garden, white tea accounts for about 20%.

The unexpected white tea made the villagers see the business opportunity, so they asked for the development of white tea one after another. In 2012, Zhu Guangfa and Zhu Guangxi brothers obtained more than 200 mu of barren mountains through auction and all planted white tea.

According to the leaders of the Miao township government in Huashan, at present, most of the thousand mu of white tea has not yet been put into production, but tea merchants have built seven processing plants in Huashan, and some have even signed acquisition agreements with villagers early to prepare for the acquisition and processing of large quantities of tea green in two years' time.
