Shiyan Town, Chongqing: returning home to grow vegetables and start a business again
On April 22, walking into a vegetable base in Shiyan Village, Shiyan Town, a "sea of vegetables" came into view. In the drizzle, bright vegetables were fresh and vibrant.
Zhou Lei, the owner of the base, has just returned from Dianjiang with joy on his face and no fatigue at all: "the two carts of vegetables have been sold out, and we will continue tomorrow."
"thanks to him, the land in the village has not been abandoned, and the old people left behind have a job." Yu Lihe, secretary of the village branch said gratefully.
Zhou Lei, a 34-year-old native of Shiyan village in Shiyan town, returned home with all his savings in 2014, leasing more than 250 mu of land to grow vegetables.
As a white-collar worker, he jumped out of the farmer's door. why did he turn back and become a vegetable farmer? Relatives and friends are very confused, and Zhou Lei is duty-bound. Because deep down in his heart, there has always been a secret.
In the year of their father's death, their plain and simple life was broken, the pillar of the family was gone, while the younger brother was still studying, his mother was sick, and life became strapped. Neighbors have extended a helping hand, let him feel the love and warmth, helped him through the most difficult times. "these things may not be trivial, but I always keep them in mind."
Later, he went out to work, with his diligence and down-to-earth, into the management, a monthly income of more than 6,000 yuan, stable work and life.
When he returned home for the Spring Festival in 2013, he saw that a large area of land was abandoned, while only the old, weak, women and children were left at home. The life of the villagers who had helped him at that time was not satisfactory. He saw it in his eyes and kept it in mind, and soon came up with the idea of going back to his hometown to grow vegetables.
"the country strongly advocates the development of agriculture, and the infrastructure in the village is gradually improving, so it should be possible to engage in agriculture." Zhou Lei persuaded his relatives in this way, and another reason is to be grateful for his hometown and repay those who have helped him.
In 2014, the vegetable base was set up, and the migrant workers were all from the village, including three poor families in the village, with a total of more than 30 people. Thanks to him, my family was finally lifted out of poverty last year. " Villager Yu Changqing said that Zhou Lei took good care of the villagers, arranged a very easy way of living, had an income of nearly 1,000 yuan a month, and had a regular life.
Yu Lihe, the village branch secretary, was most moved by the fact that at the end of last year, one year's rent had to be paid, but the vegetable base was on the right track, and the early investment spent all Zhou Lei's accumulation and borrowed money. I thought the rent might have to wait until next year, but Zhou Lei borrowed money everywhere and cobbled together more than 150000 to settle the rent of the villagers. "I know they won't rush me, but people have to be honest and do things first." That's what Zhou Lei said.
"I have to plant the vegetables well in order to repay you for your help." Zhou Lei told reporters that in the past two years, the town government and the committee of agriculture have helped him build a production access road, district supply and marketing cooperatives, town agricultural machinery personnel, and other free technology and fertilizer, village cadres and villagers are very supportive. At present, his vegetables are mainly sold to the three major wholesale markets in Chongqing and large supermarkets in Dianjiang, Fuling, Jiangjin and other places.
"at present, I am preparing to set up a cooperative. I want to take the form of base + peasant household. The villagers only care about planting, I manage marketing, and lead the villagers to increase their income and become rich." Zhou Lei planned to do so.
