How does the farm make money? The rich second generation of the post-80s generation does not want to be an old fruit farmer.
Unlike many people who do agricultural projects, Wang Bo, the "owner" of Jingxiu Earth Ecological Farm, is a "wayward" post-80s generation. To paraphrase a fashionable saying, he could have relied on his father to have fun, but he chose to be a "mud leg".
From the beginning of entering the business, many people concluded that he would not "play" for long. Now, four years later, his young face is covered with signs of wind and frost, giving a strong response to those who questioned him.
The "wayward" post-80s generation does not follow their father's career to work alone in agriculture--

In April, standing on the cement road of Songlin Village, Yuxian Town, Caidian, there was an eyeful of fruits and vegetables and flowers, and the sweet fruit fragrance floated in the air. Rows of farms are neatly planned and scattered. This is what Jingxiu Earth Ecological Farm looks like now. Four years ago, it was a wasteland of lakes and weeds.
In fact, Wang Bo relies on the family business, and his father's company is still a leading enterprise in Hubei. Taking over his father's shift has a much higher starting point than ordinary people. However, after graduating from college, he tried to go his own way. He has sold a house, worked on the Internet, done marketing, and worked in a government department. "later, when I came into contact with the agricultural harvest garden, I felt that there was great potential in this industry, so I decided to start with this industry." The enlightened father acquiesced in his son's "farming". "some hobbies are innate. After doing a lot of things, I found that I love land and agriculture best." Wang Bo told reporters. To this end, he took 1500 mu of land in Caidian and began to build his own farm.
Five or six years ago, he found that fire dragon fruit sold well in Wuhan market, and compared with local fruits such as oranges and peaches, the economic benefit was much higher. He learned that the yield of dragon fruit can reach 2000 kilograms per mu of normal land. So Wang Bo decided to plant dragon fruit.
In 2011, he invested more than 200,000 yuan to introduce red dragon fruit from Shandong. "the dragon fruit is a tropical and subtropical fruit. At that time, I considered that the temperature in Shandong in winter was much lower than that in Wuhan. If it can grow in Shandong, it can also grow in Wuhan." In order to keep the seedlings warm, Wang Bo covered the seedlings with four layers of insulation film. But when he matured at the end of the year, he found that he had worked hard for more than half a year, but not a single dragon fruit had come out.
Frustrated, the expert told him that the reason why dragon fruit can grow in Shandong is that although Shandong is cold in winter, the sunshine is long, and the temperature in Wuhan is slightly higher, but as soon as it rains, it will continue to overcast for many days, affecting the growth of the plant. If we want to grow well in Wuhan, we must take technical measures to supplement light and control temperature.
After this defeat, Wang Bo began to make up for fruit-growing techniques and invited agricultural experts to take responsibility.
Not only to sell fruits, but also to sell services and health.
Pick the rudiments of tourism and leisure farms throughout the year
In recent years, picking tourism has become a hot item in Jiangcheng tourism industry, but farmers often have a single variety, so it is difficult to form agglomeration effect. "Why not build a sightseeing and leisure farm with a variety of fruits and vegetables for picking and catering and entertainment?" Following this line of thinking, with the technical support of agricultural experts, Wang Bo has introduced nearly 100 kinds of fruits in his farm since 2012, including 11 varieties of grapes; peaches include oil flat peach, peach, yellow peach; pomegranate soft seed pomegranate and black seed pomegranate; pears include Cuiguan pear, round yellow pear and so on. It also ensures that there are more than two kinds of fruits for tourists to pick every month. For example, strawberries and winter dates ripened in November, watermelons, mulberries and cherries came off the shelves in April of the following year, peaches matured in June, grapes ripened in July, and figs and pomegranates ripened one after another after the grapes were removed from the shelves in October.
As he expected, the rich variety aggregation effect brings tens of thousands of passengers to his farm every year.
In 2014, in addition to fruit and vegetable picking, Wang Bo began to take the sightseeing, tourism and leisure farm route, adding a number of amusement facilities so that tourists can stay longer when they come. In 2015, the farm received 80,000 tourists throughout the year. "at present, the farm is only a picking base, and it is my ultimate goal to develop in the direction of scenic spots in the future. To create the largest sightseeing and leisure agricultural picking garden in Central China is my ultimate goal." Wang Bo said confidently, "although I receive tens of thousands of tourists a year and are praised by many people that my fruit is delicious, I am still selling fruit. What I need to do is to follow the path of sustainable development, not just selling fruit. But also sell services, sell health, sell brands."
