He is the "cow" of Niuzhuang people
At noon on April 10, the sun crossed the mountain and shone into Liu Yaoyin's slope field of Jiuliping Village, Niuzhuang Township, Wufeng County, Yichang City. He quickly called his neighbors to help prepare the ground and prepare to plant the Chinese herbal medicine Angelica sinensis. From owing rations to the village every year in the past to building a new tile house, buying a car for his daughter to go to college and buying a truck for his son, the changes in his family can not be overstated.
Liu Yaoyin said: "Our golden rice bowl is given by Luo Lao, who helped our family live a good life."
Old Luo's name was Luo Guanzhang. On April 13, the reporter met the 79-year-old man in Niuzhuang Township, Wufeng County, the highest average altitude town in Yichang. Medium-sized, dark face, strong accent, left hand also lost two fingers, he is Yichang City Wufeng Tujia Autonomous County in 1997 retired from the post of deputy director of the Standing Committee of the People's Congress Luo Guanzhang.
Xiao Yongkui, secretary of the Party committee of Niuzhuang Township, said: "The people of Niuzhuang can basically get rid of poverty. We have to thank Luo Lao. He helped us lay the industrial foundation."
More than 100 trials in 3 years, harvest a seed
Wild gastrodia elata is a rare Chinese medicinal material unique to Niuzhuang, but the yield of wild gastrodia elata is small and cannot meet the market demand. If we can break through the bottleneck of artificial sexual reproduction, we can dig up "gold" in the mountains.
Luo persuaded his childhood friend Chen Konghuan, an engineer who retired from the Shaanxi Geological Survey, to help him realize this idea. Just after the Spring Festival in 1998, Luo Guanzhang and Chen Konghuan set foot on the road to Shaanxi and Shanxi to learn scriptures. Learning is not smooth, the other party is either evasive, or ask for high transfer fees. After returning, the two decided to experiment with artificial reproduction of Gastrodia elata.
The first year, failure. The next year, he failed again. Luo Guanzhang and his companions carried out more than 100 experiments. They wrote three whole notebooks just by observing and recording. The sawn bacteria piled up into a hill. In the process of cutting the fungus material, Luo Guanzhang's left thumb was sawed off and his index finger was sawed off due to the twisting and sliding of the miscellaneous wood. The two severed fingers fell into a pile of sawdust and were not found. Luo Guanzhang's wife was so distressed that he shed tears, but he gritted his teeth and only stayed in the hospital for more than 10 days and ran back to continue the experiment.
In the third year, in 2000, Luo Guanzhang finally harvested the first seed of sexual reproduction of Gastrodia elata. Three months later, Luo Guanzhang sowed the seed on Armillaria mellea and got 42 cultivated seeds. In 2001, Luo Guanzhang expanded the experimental area and earned more than 50,000 yuan in that year. More than a dozen poor households who followed him increased their income by more than 100,000 yuan.
If you want to wear a woolen coat, you have to work hard.
Zou Yunbai, a villager of Jiuliping Village, lives on the mountain 15 kilometers away from Niuzhuang Town. His family has a large population and has always worn the hat of "the poorest household in the village". When Luo Guanzhang came to promote the cultivation of shiitake mushrooms, he found that there was woodland and water source near his home, which was very suitable for planting bagged shiitake mushrooms. Zou Yunbai family worried that the more trouble the poorer, unwilling to do.
Once, twice, three times... within a month, Luo Guanzhang regardless of the high mountain road, seven consecutive visits, and village cadres together, encourage Zou Yunbai to plant bags of mushrooms, but also promised to plant, up the mountain to his home "work to help".
Luo Guanzhang's sincerity moved Zou Yunbai. That day, he took his wife and children to grow mushrooms for the first time. At the time of planting, Luo Guanzhang wore liberation shoes and carried a hoe to help, on-site guidance. After planting, it was already night.
The next year, Zou Yunbai sold bags of mushroom income more than 10,000 yuan, not only paid off the debt, but also bought a long-awaited woolen coat. In less than 3 years, Jiuliping Village has developed more than 500,000 mushrooms, with an annual income of more than one million yuan.
After ups and downs, cultivate three major industries and increase income of 510 million yuan for villagers
The road to industrial poverty alleviation is not smooth. In 2000, Luo Guanzhang suffered the biggest failure on the road of industrial poverty alleviation.
One day at the end of August of that year, dozens of farmers dragged the turnips that could not be sold to his house and asked him to underwrite them. Originally, Luo Guanzhang found that the white jade spring radish introduced from Korea is an ideal variety for out-of-season vegetable cultivation in Niuzhuang. Therefore, he introduced seeds and planted 196 mu in a group of 116 households in Niuzhuang Village.
Unexpectedly, the market suddenly changed, the purchase price of radish was only 0.10 yuan per kilogram. In order not to let farmers suffer losses, Luo Guanzhang himself took out 15,000 yuan subsidies to these villagers.
The next year, Luo Guanzhang learned lessons, organized villagers to set up professional cooperatives, signed sales contracts with large wholesale markets, and finally opened up sales. Baiyuchun radish has also been planted from Niuzhuang Village in Niuzhuang Township to five neighboring villages, with a planting area of more than 8000 mu and an income increase of more than 20 million yuan for farmers.
Over the past 19 years, Luo Guanzhang has made great efforts to explore the way of industrial poverty alleviation, leading and guiding more than 1500 farmers to grow tobacco leaves, medicinal materials and vegetables, helping villagers to increase their income by 510 million yuan accumulatively.
