Yuan Rengui, 41, made great efforts to develop traditional Chinese medicine in Shizhu under the guidance of the government. Today, he combines traditional Chinese medicine with meat pigeon farming and uses "Jizhi syrup" to produce raw material buckwheat, which is made into feed for pigeon breeding, reducing the proportion of pigeons suffering from diseases by 30%. At the same time, because of the excellent meat quality, the price has increased by nearly half.

The waste of golden buckwheat straw becomes a difficult problem.

A row of factories along the road constantly heard the sound of "goo goo". This is the "hatchery" where Yuan Rengui led the villagers to get rich-pigeon houses. It turned out that this was the "Red Pigeon Cooperative" just established by Yuan Rengui with the support of the Municipal Association for the Promotion of Revolutionary Old areas and the local government.

When it comes to "raising pigeons", we have to talk about Yuan Rengui's old profession-- the cultivation of traditional Chinese medicine.

Yuan Rengui was originally from Jinshan Town, Nanchuan District. In 1998, he graduated from Fuling Polytechnic School and obtained a technical secondary school degree. He joined Nanchuan Pharmaceutical Company from director of traditional Chinese medicine to deputy general manager of the company. At the end of 2003, he was chosen by Shizhu traditional Chinese Medicine Company and introduced to Shizhu County traditional Chinese Medicine Company as Deputy General Manager, responsible for the construction of golden buckwheat base and other work. In March 2004, 50 mu of golden buckwheat was planted in Wugang Village, Yuelai Town, and each household achieved a good result of generating 2000 yuan per mu that year.

Yuan Rengui said that golden buckwheat is easy to grow and easy to manage. After planting in March every year, as long as you fertilize and weed the grass, you don't have to manage too much for a few months, and the mature roots of buckwheat can be dug up in November. For farmers who live above 1000 meters above sea level and can only make a living by growing corn and potatoes in the past, planting golden buckwheat is a way to get rich.

Li Fengxian, 51, is the beneficiary of growing golden buckwheat. "now I grow 7 mu of golden buckwheat, with an annual income of nearly 30,000 yuan, which has undergone earth-shaking changes compared to growing corn before."

Yuan Rengui also set up the first professional cooperative of buckwheat in Shizhu County, which greatly improved the degree of organization of farmers, and at the same time signed a long-term supply contract with Taiji Group, which solved the worries of the villagers.

The benefit of planting golden buckwheat is getting better and better, and the planting scale is getting larger and larger. By 2010, golden buckwheat will be planted in nearly 20 villages and towns in the county, and the planting scale will grow to more than 20,000 mu. With the continuous growth of the planting scale, the worthless golden buckwheat straw has become a waste, and the pile of golden buckwheat straw gives off a disgusting stench, which makes people complain, and Yuan Rengui is even more anxious.

Meat pigeons eat "Jizhi syrup" to replenish the body.

Looking at the mountains of golden buckwheat straw piled up all over the country, Yuan Rengui consulted the relevant information while thinking.

In the winter of 2010, combined with a large amount of relevant information collected recently, and under the guidance of relevant professional departments, Yuan Rengui learned that the production of livestock feed with golden buckwheat can greatly alleviate the problem of straw waste.

What is the feasibility? What are the market prospects? How much is the production input? Where is the production equipment? A series of questions were placed in front of Yuan Rengui.

Yuan Rengui traveled to Rongchang, Chengdu and other places to investigate feed demand and learn feed processing and formula.

Golden buckwheat, also known as Tartary buckwheat, has expectorant, antipyretic, anti-inflammatory, anti-tumor effects, commonly used "Jizhi syrup", its raw material is golden buckwheat.

"I always thought that only the root of buckwheat could be used as medicine. it turned out that buckwheat was covered with treasures." Yuan Rengui, who inspected and studied and returned to Shizhu, said that plant straw is used to process feed in other places, while golden buckwheat straw can not only prevent blue ear disease in pigs, but also improve immunity and pork quality, which should be processed into feed.

Yuan Rengui then used his savings from a few years ago to build a feed processing plant.

Previously thought to be cumbersome golden buckwheat straw and roots, "turning waste into treasure" has become a pig feed additive, allowing villagers to sell golden buckwheat for about 1000 yuan per mu, and everyone is very happy.

Yuan Rengui also keenly saw the development prospect of the meat pigeon market, built a pigeon house last year, and tried to raise meat pigeons with golden buckwheat as feed, and assigned special people to squat on the farm for trial feeding, set up accounts, and record the process.

Yuan Rengui's employees record the growth of meat pigeons day and night and raise them under the guidance of experts. "by feeding pigeons with golden buckwheat feed, the morbidity and mortality have been reduced by at least 30%." Yuan Rengui said that throughout April, the pigeon house had a total of 1170 pairs of pigeons, of which less than 10 had died. if it were generally raised, at least 30 pigeons would have died of illness. " Yuan Rengui said that meat pigeons eat "urgent syrup" every day, which greatly reduces the morbidity and ensures the improvement of meat quality.

At the same time, Yuan Rengui took the quality of meat pigeons to relevant departments for testing and found that the protein content and trace elements of meat pigeons were higher than those of meat pigeons fed with general feed.

Raising meat pigeons with ecological feed to increase the income of villagers

Yuan Rengui currently develops 1400 pairs of meat breeding pigeons in Zixin Township, raising 1170 pairs of meat breeding pigeons, and through the way of "borrowing pigeons to raise pigeons", drives 46 accurate poor households to raise meat breeding pigeons.

"Poor households borrow five pairs of pigeons from the company for free to go home and breed. After breeding, the company helps to sell them, and they can also get dividends." Yuan Rengui said that this not only improves the breeding motivation of poor households, but also allows villagers to increase their income.

After the completion of the project, the average annual income of the meat pigeon industry is expected to increase by more than 448000 yuan, which can increase the average annual income of each household by more than 4370 yuan.

Golden buckwheat straw and root beard "turn waste into treasure" into feed additives, and Yuan Rengui opened the largest feed factory in Shizhu County last year, producing feed for pigs, chickens, ducks, geese, fish, pigeons and rabbits.

Yuan Rengui said: at present, the circular industry chain of golden buckwheat has been formed through the establishment of golden buckwheat planting base, crude processing plant of traditional Chinese medicine, golden buckwheat feed factory and golden buckwheat pig farm. Farmers grow golden buckwheat, golden buckwheat and main stalks are sold to specialized cooperatives, the golden buckwheat feed produced by specialized cooperatives is sold to farmers to raise pigs, professional cooperatives purchase at the lowest protective price, and pig manure is the best farm manure, which is used to grow golden buckwheat over and over again.
