Deng Guoyong, Qijiang District, Chongqing: nutrition feeds functional pigs

What kind of magic will happen if a pharmacist who studies medicine applies nutrition to the cause of raising pigs?

Deng Guoyong's practice tells us that a jin of pork can be sold for 200 yuan, and the cheapest suet costs 88 yuan per jin!

How did he do it? Build a "thermal insulation and environmental protection pig house" for pigs to make pigs grow happily; nutritious feeding to double the content of pork phospholipids; patents + brands, the achievement of his high-end market.

Deng Guoyong, a native of Nanchong, Sichuan, who graduated from Shenyang Pharmaceutical College, qualified as a licensed pharmacist in 1995 and served as an executive in two listed companies. Now, in the mountain forest of Shangbang Village, Dongxi Town, Qijiang District, Chongqing, about 1000 meters above sea level, he has become a modern "swineherd", but the reason is "eager to love a girl."

It turns out that four years ago, Deng Guoyong looked for a "recipe" to increase dietary nutrition for his daughter in his third year of high school. He spent more than 5000 yuan to buy Laiwu black pork from Shandong, and his daughter became happier and happier. The "pharmacist" dad is even more convinced that Laiwu black pork is rich in phospholipids. So he started his dream journey of being a "swineherd" and raising Laiwu black pigs in Chongqing.

In September 2013, in the fresh air of the mountain forest in the village above, Deng Guoyong built an "original ecological pig farm" for pigs. The first batch of more than 300 purebred Laiwu black pigs lived in. Each pig house has a "restaurant" and "bedroom". There is even a "balcony" for pigs to walk and bask in the sun. The top of the pig house is covered with nutritious soil, which can not only grow vegetables, but also keep warm. This kind of "thermal insulation and environmental protection pig house" has won the patent of national utility model intellectual property rights.

In order to make pigs grow healthily, Deng Guoyong insisted on choosing good grain feed, mixing corn, wheat bran, alfalfa and rice bran according to the nutritional ratio, and feeding them with fermented raw meal. It tastes good and sleeps well, and the phospholipid of black pig pork is more than 10% higher than that of ordinary farmed pigs. His "feeding methods to increase the phospholipid content of pork" and "feeding methods to reduce pork cholesterol" have been patented.

Such "enjoying" pigs do not seem to be in a hurry to gain weight, and they have to "mix food and drink" for 18 months from birth to coming out of the fence. Deng Guoyong said that the direct breeding cost of a Laiwu black pig weighing about 240jin is more than 5000 yuan, equivalent to three times that of ordinary live pigs. In this way, the price of black pork is much higher.

In early 2015, the first batch of pigs raised by Deng Guoyong came out. He opened a sales store near a key middle school in the main city of Chongqing, hoping to share his daughter's growing experience with more people. But over the past three months, the performance has been dismal. No wonder there is such a big price difference. Why?

"this pig is not the other pig! You have to be a brand! " As soon as Deng Guoyong's "Fulingzi" trademark was registered, black pork became famous immediately. Through the "sign-up free tasting program", two months later, more and more consumers took the initiative to buy black pork. In a short time, Deng Guoyong had more than 400 member customers and monthly sales reached more than 2000 jin.

In March this year, Deng Guoyong received an evaluation report on the scientific and technological achievements of 'functional key breeding techniques for phospholipid-rich pork' issued by an expert group from China Agricultural University, the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences and the Science and Technology Development Center of the Ministry of Agriculture. The report affirmed his scientific breeding and paved the red carpet for his "modern swineherd" road.

"according to the current rate of membership development, the number of fixed customers will reach more than 3000 early next year, and monthly sales will exceed 1.5 million yuan." Deng Guoyong said that the current stock of 1500 black pigs can meet the needs of the market for two years at most. His new plan is to unite with neighboring farmers to make the "rich son" bigger and stronger.
