Entrepreneurial story

Continuous self-improvement and "Sheep Wealth"-- on Liu Jinyuan, a disabled entrepreneur in Bobai County

Liu Jinyuan fed Nubian breeder sheep with forage grass.

"these are Nubian male sheep in Australia, which cost 70,000 yuan each!" In the dim light of the sheep house, 32-year-old Liu Jinyuan introduced as he walked.

This sheep farm is located outside Changjiang Village, Jiangning Town, Bobai County, surrounded by green trees and forage grass. It is currently the largest breeding base in Guangxi, with more than 1300 Nubia and other high-end breeder sheep. Founder Liu Jinyuan is a famous local entrepreneur for the disabled and an influential leader in getting rich.

He lost the whole palm of his right hand in an accident at the age of 16. But the heavy punch of life did not break him, but tempered his will. After recovering from the injury, it took him only a week to learn to write with his left hand. Later, he was admitted to the health school and planned to become a pharmacist. But the discrimination he encountered on his way to office forced him to find another way out.

By chance, he came into contact with the sheep industry. After understanding the situation, he decisively made a new choice in life-- going back to his hometown to raise sheep. It was 2009.

Starting a business is full of twists and turns. He used all his family savings of 35000 yuan to buy 30 ewes and a ram, but all the sheep died a month later. He was not discouraged. After finding out the reason, he borrowed tens of thousands of yuan from relatives and friends and bought dozens of breeder sheep again.

After finding out the way, the following year he made use of the entrepreneurial policy for the disabled and decisively lent 200000 yuan to introduce 250 Guangxi female goats. In less than two years, the sheep had bred to nearly 1000. At this time, he once again made a bold decision to sell nearly a thousand sheep and replace them with Australian Nubian breeds, which are larger and give birth faster. But the price of this kind of sheep is so high that the price of nearly a thousand Guangxi goats is only 50.

Facts have proved that Liu Jinyuan has a very forward-looking vision. A few years later, Nubian breeder sheep developed much faster than local goats, and he reaped higher value.

A flood in 2013 forced him to find a new development model. At that time, the flood poured into the sheep farm in the middle of the night, and the lambs were drowned that night, and dozens of breeder sheep got sick and died one after another.

In the second half of that year, he began to launch the "company + peasant household" model, dispersed the company's breeder sheep among the joining farmers' homes, and his company not only provided the full range of technical services and feed, but also purchased sheep cubs at a guaranteed price. At present, 52 farmers have joined in, and many people have become rich as a result.

Xie Yujun, a 70-year-old franchisee, is a poor family in the nearby Liujia village with little start-up capital. Liu Jinyuan supported him to feed 20 breeder sheep to help feed them. A few years later, Xie Yujun's family had developed 40 breeder sheep and had the foundation to start his career.

The 55-year-old from Liuli Village, Nalin Town, has strong legs and inconvenience, and his family is poor. At the end of 2014, 14 breeder sheep were raised by Liu Jinyuan, and now it has grown to more than 80.

"it can not only spread the operational risks of the company, but also lead more people to get rich and change their lives. why not?" Liu Jinyuan said.

In order to help more disabled people like him start their own businesses, Liu Jinyuan joined the Sunshine Poverty Alleviation Program for the disabled run by the disabled Persons' Federation of the Autonomous region at the end of last year, with the goal of leading 100 disabled people to become rich in a year. At present, dozens of disabled people have begun to raise sheep with his support.

Liu Jinyuan has long been famous. In the past year alone, nearly 1000 farmers from Guangdong, Guizhou, Hunan, Chongqing and other places came to learn goat captivity techniques from him.

Liu Jinyuan has long been full of honor. In the small office of the sheep farm, he took out a thick stack of red honor certificates with his left hand-- "National Outstanding Peasant Workers", "Autonomous region self-improvement Model", "Autonomous region Employment and Entrepreneurship Outstanding individual".

Compared to honor, Liu Jinyuan is more concerned about the evaluation of farmers. "it was only when I saw that they were lifted out of poverty because of me that I felt that my worth had really been realized." He said.
