In the sunny May, at the Yangyang Xiang Pig Farm in Yanyi Village, Songkan Town, Tongzi County, groups of young Xiang pigs looked for food leisurely on the slopes around the enclosure, and two rows of regular enclosure squares kept sleeping sows.

At about 12:00 at noon, Li Guanghong and his wife, dressed as a swineherd, poured some cooked feed into the trough of the pigsty. Smelling the noise, the little Xiang pigs around immediately gathered around for food.

Once upon a time, "swineherd" Li Guanghong was a migrant wage earner. The couple worked abroad for more than 20 years, and twice they went back to their hometown to start a business. their savings for many years of working were exhausted, and the neighbors ridiculed Li Guanghong, saying that "if there is no diamond, you should not do porcelain work."

The turnaround occurred in 2014.

This year, Li Guanghong visited a friend's home in Qijiang, Chongqing, and inspected a fragrant pig farm in Qijiang under the guidance of a friend, and the couple came up with the idea of going back to their hometown to start a business. But at the thought of the previous two failures, the couple hesitated again. When the staff of Songkan Town Agricultural Machinery Service Center learned about Li Guanghong and his wife's ideas, they came to their door to cheer them up and gave them strong technical support, which strengthened Li Guanghong's confidence in raising fragrant pigs.

"We decided to try again. When we see that other people's fragrant pigs sell so well, I also want to be a good swineherd." Li Guanghong is full of confidence.

During the Spring Festival in 2014, with the help of town and village cadres, Li Guanghong built a farm covering an area of about 8 mu from a bank loan, and went to Chongqing, Qijiang, Hechuan and other places to buy 25 breeding pigs and invested 200000 yuan to set up his own farm. Today, Li Guanghong's farm has 35 breeding pigs and more than 100 commercial Xiang pigs. Li Guanghong said that through self-breeding and self-raising, it is estimated that the scale of breeding pigs will reach 100 in the second half of the year, and the stock of commercial fragrant pigs will reach 800, with an output value of 900000 yuan.

"Pigs are kept in captivity, but our fragrant pigs are kept free." Li Guanghong revealed the "secret" of pig breeding in one sentence.

"the meat of free-range Xiang pigs is more delicious and chewy than ordinary pork, and the price is higher." Li Guanghong calculated an account with the reporter: when the fragrant pig comes out of the pen, the average weight is 20 kilograms, according to the market price of 70 to 80 yuan per kilogram, a fragrant pig can be sold for about 1500 yuan.

Seeing the good prospects for the development of Xiang pigs, the party committee and government of Songkan Town took advantage of the situation and adopted the model of "farm + peasant household + cooperative", that is, the cooperative provided two sows to each needy family free of charge, and after the sows gave birth, they were uniformly bought back by the cooperative and sold to Chongqing, Zunyi and other places. Based on the fact that each sow produces 2 litters and 10 piglets per litter each year, there are nearly 40 commercial Xiang pigs produced by 2 sows a year, with an output value of nearly 60,000 yuan.

In the future, we should actively strive for industrial poverty alleviation projects and funds from our superiors, tilt towards characteristic growers, and really work out a new road suitable for poverty alleviation by Songkan industries, so as to drive more villagers to increase their income and become rich, "said Wang Yi, secretary of the party committee of Songkan Town.
