Walking into Houtun Village, Jiaobei Street, Jiaozhou City, modern breeding greenhouses are particularly conspicuous. In the greenhouse, tens of thousands of forest frogs are making loud cries, as if taking people to the pond after the summer rain. Jin Guomu, secretary of Houtun Village Branch, told reporters that forest frog farming is a village-enterprise cooperation poverty alleviation project explored in Jiaobei street, which began operation last year. Forest frog farming has transformed local villagers from poor households to "founders", and their income has soared.

Since the second half of 2015, a 3000 square meter forest frog breeding shed has been built in Houtun Village, Jiaobei Street, Jiaozhou City, trying the cooperation model of "enterprises raising frogs and villagers raising insects." although the project has been in operation for less than a year, the results have begun to show. The villagers involved in the project have a fixed income every month and become "partners".

Because of its delicious taste and rich nutrition, forest frog has become a famous variety of delicacies on people's dinner table. it has become a tribute in the Ming and Qing dynasties and is listed as the "eight treasures" of the court. At present, the economic value of forest frogs is not cheap. According to reports, the market price of adult forest frogs can reach 180 yuan per jin, and demand exceeds supply. The Compendium of Materia Medica calls forest frog "Shanha", alias Hasad and snow clam, which is mainly produced in Changbai Mountain in northeast China. The dry substance of female frog placenta is called "snow clam oil", and its market price is as high as 5000 yuan / jin. It has the effect of tonifying deficiency, moistening the lung and strengthening the body. Since ancient times, it has been known as a tonic as famous as the three treasures in Northeast China. It has been widely used by people for thousands of years, and its pharmacological effects have long been known.

On May 11, the reporter saw at the forest frog breeding base in Houtun Village that the whole breeding greenhouse was an independent ecosystem, with vines planted in the greenhouse, dozens of cement pools between the trees, and groups of tadpoles cruising in the pool. "in about a month, these little tadpoles can turn into forest frogs." Manager Lin, who is in charge of the greenhouse, said that the vineyard is the home and "canteen" of forest frogs. With some artificial feeding, forest frogs have no worries about eating and drinking.

At present, there are more than 50000 forest frogs in the whole breeding base, and the food is mainly worms. In addition to the insects that breed naturally in the vineyard, they mainly rely on artificial feeding.

Manager Zhang, the person in charge of the enterprise, said that the technicians specially cultivated a kind of yellow powder bug, and the forest frog liked it very much. because the forest frog had a great demand for the yellow powder bug, the enterprise and the local villagers reached a cooperation. The yellow powder insect is mainly hatched by the villagers and provided to the breeding base. In other words, villagers can not only participate in forest frog breeding, but also provide yellow powder insects.

How much money can you earn from raising yellow powder insects? Jin Guomu, secretary of the Houtun Village branch, calculated an account for the reporter that it takes only 100 days for a yellow powder worm to become an adult, the cost of a jin of yellow powder worm is 2 yuan, the market price of an adult is 5 yuan, and the company buys it at a protection price of 5 yuan per catty. Calculated on the basis of 500 jin per household, the average monthly income is 2500 yuan, and the net profit is 1500 yuan.

In addition, there is insect dung income, 2 jin of adult feces per jin, calculated according to the purchase price of 0.3 yuan per jin of insect dung, but also can bring 1800 yuan of income for the common people. "because this is a poverty alleviation project, we give priority to production for poor households." Jin Guomu said.

Since the introduction of forest frog farming project in Houtun village, the income of local villagers has skyrocketed. Jin Guomu said that in the past, the villagers' income mainly depended on growing food, and their income was very limited, so it was difficult to cope with illness or their children went to school, so there were many poor families in the village. now, after the project is landed, the villagers have become creators, their income has increased, and their enthusiasm has been stimulated. The appearance of the village is expected to change quickly.

"our next step is to expand the project and develop tourism." Ma Jinxiu, party committee secretary of Jiaobei Street, told reporters that because the characteristic fruit cultivation in Jiaobei Street has always been an important industry, the forest frog industry can develop together with the fruit industry, whether it is village-enterprise cooperation or frog coexistence is worth popularizing. In the next step, Jiaobei Street will expand the scale of forest frog farming according to specific conditions, so that more villagers can increase their income.

"through experiments, we found that raising forest frogs in the grape field can not delay both, and a more balanced ecosystem has been built. in the next step, we will gradually expand the category of fruits and allow more villagers to participate in the project. fruit planting, forest frog farming and eco-tourism are organically combined to create a classic case of poverty alleviation." Jin Guomu said.
