Wei Tingwang feeds the chickens

At about 6: 00 on May 16, on a small hillside in Changchong Village, Linshi Town, Fuling District, a thin black young man in a white coat picked up two buckets of corn to feed the chickens. He is Wei Tingwang, who graduated from Southwest Forestry University last year, a post-90s young man with a dream to start his own business.

Choose a zoology major for realizing your dream

Every day, Wei Tingwang would ride a motorcycle along the mountain road to transport the native chickens and eggs from his farm to the city to sell. This time he went for half a day, going up and down the mountain in the wind and rain, making him black and thin. It is hard to imagine that he was a college student sitting in the classroom last year.

Speaking of starting a business, he said it was not on the spur of the moment, but that he had the idea when he was in junior high school. When he was in junior high school, he once wrote weekly notes about his dream. Curious about the mystery of chickens and eggs, he decided to set up a farm to raise chickens when he grew up.

When he volunteered for the college entrance examination, he chose two majors, animal and chemical, and was finally admitted to the animal science major of Southwest Forestry University.

Tried to raise chickens when I was in college

In the first three years of college, he studied hard and laid a solid professional foundation. At 04:00, he decided to set aside the school's experimental base to raise native chickens.

"at that time, the living expenses given by my parents was only 1,000 yuan. I spent half of the money to buy 400 chickens for breeding experiments to control the epidemic and feed them myself." When it comes to raising chickens for the first time, Wei Tingwang is still excited.

At that time, in addition to class every day, he went to the base to feed chickens and observe the situation. He also opened up a small piece of land next to the experimental base for growing vegetables to save living expenses for breeding.

Half a year later, the chicks grew up, and Wei Tingwang's breeding experiment was successful, which further strengthened his idea of going back to his hometown to start a business and raise native chickens.

Wechat official account becomes a sales platform

Wei Tingwang's parents are honest rural people, hoping that their son can find a stable job in the city after graduating from college. In January last year, Wei Tingwang told his parents that he wanted to go home to start a business and raise native chickens, which was firmly opposed by his parents. His parents said that as long as he works in the city, they are willing to give all their savings to buy him a house in the city. Wei Tingwang said nothing more, but silently opened up the hillside opposite his home and set up a chicken coop. His parents could not beat him, so they had to contribute money to support him to contract 40 mu of bamboo forest.

Wei Tingwang bought 4000 chickens and began to feed them. The town government applied for a micro-enterprise for him to support local talent to start a business.

In order to open up the market, Wei Tingwang set up a local chicken sales Wechat official account, which contains his carefully planned referral messages, and after taking the order, he rode a motorcycle to deliver the goods.

Build a breeding experimental base

Wei Tingwang said that when he raised chickens in college, he was fed corn and pine needles, while there is a bamboo forest and pine forest on the hillside of his hometown. Compared with the green grass, bamboo leaves are rich in trace elements and minerals in addition to fiber. Wei Tingwang told the university teachers about the idea of bamboo leaves as feed, got the support of the teachers, and took it as a subject experiment. At the same time, Wei Tingwang uses his breeding base as the practice base for his younger brothers and sisters, and this year college students will come to participate in social practice.

"when starting a business is on the right track, I will consider developing an e-commerce platform to lead the villagers to get rich together, and then open a farmhouse for leisure citizens to experience the fun of picking up eggs in the mountains." Wei Tingwang said longingly.
