Walking into the home of 71-year-old Wang Yimin in Zhangwangzhuang Village, Yingang Township, Fengqiu County, Henan Province, the bleating sheep can be heard constantly.

Wang Yimin is an old farmer in the village. At most, his family raised more than 50 sheep. He has many years of experience in raising sheep and goes on and on about the classics of raising sheep. According to him, the cost of raising sheep is relatively low compared with other farming industries. The staple food of sheep is grass, leaves, straw, etc., and then mixed with some poor quality corn seeds, or bean cakes, peanut cakes and other oil residues, sheep can be raised fat and strong. Sheep eat crop straw, and sheep dung can be fertilized in the field, which is not wasted. In addition, if we do a good job of epidemic prevention and hygiene, the sheep will seldom get sick and the risk of the epidemic is smaller.

Wang Yimin takes himself as an example. before raising sheep, his family lived in an old house several decades ago, and his life was so tight that he was usually reluctant to eat meat. After raising sheep, the family is no longer short of pocket money, and when there is a good market, they can still make a small profit. Old people raise sheep and farm at home, young people work outside to earn money, and Wang Yimin's life is getting better and better. A few years ago, our family built a two-story house, and this year we plan to buy another car. However, Wang Yimin also said that although the benefits of raising sheep are good, we should also pay attention to selecting the right breeds. For example, Dupo sheep and Pu'er sheep are fat and beautiful, they only need to mix a small amount of grain into the green grass to gain fat in exchange for better economic benefits.

Wang Yimin once calculated that the income of raising dozens of sheep is higher than that of planting more than ten mu of land. although the sheep market has declined in the past two years, the overall benefit is still better than that of farming. "at present, farmers have a really good policy of raising sheep. Villagers who are willing to raise sheep can adopt two lambs free of charge, and the township epidemic prevention station regularly comes home for free to give sheep vaccination shots."
