Dong, a farmer from Cangzhou, teaches Nankai students to learn farming
On May 27, Nankai University Public Energy Agricultural Experience Park, located in the southeast corner of Jinnan New Campus, welcomed a special guest-Dong Daye, a farmer from Cangzhou. Uncle Dong has rich experience in planting land around the school. This time, he was invited to explain agricultural planting technology to the teachers and students of the Public Energy Agricultural Experience Park.
Mr. Dong explained the basic cultivation methods of crops and simple symptoms of plant diseases and insect pests; trained the team members to use basic production tools (such as hoes and shovels); and trained a series of field management and protection work such as ploughing, soil preparation, sowing, transplanting, watering, weeding and fertilization. According to the specific conditions of each responsible field, Uncle Dong gave instructions one by one: whether the planting is too dense, the degree of watering is mastered, the shelving method of melon seedlings, the pest control and weeding of fennel and radish, the watering method, and the seedling transplantation.
In this process, Uncle Dong exchanged his feelings with the students and hoped that the students would love labor, love the land, spend their thoughts and sweat. Then all the team members started working together under the guidance of Uncle Dong: erecting frames and weeding for tomatoes, transplanting peanut seedlings and loosening soil for sunflowers.
After the activity, the team members responded enthusiastically. On the one hand, they thanked Uncle Dong for his simple and patient guidance, on the other hand, they also expressed their appreciation of this platform. Different farming team members could cooperate deeply, promoting the integration of teachers and students and peer exchanges. Just as Li, a teammate of "Zheng Zai Farming", said: "I only checked some dogmatic knowledge on the Internet before. After explaining and communicating with other teammates today, I realized that some knowledge should be combined with practice, otherwise I would make mistakes."
It is reported that this activity is one of the follow-up activities of the Public Energy Agricultural Experience Park and a preliminary attempt to build a field practice education course. Organizers carefully organize so that practical activities are systematically passed on. After the garden opening ceremony, teachers and classmates are enthusiastic, usually taking advantage of recess time or before school to take care of plants, and taking turns to water and fertilize weeds. According to the actual planting situation, the organizer will launch various trainings for six consecutive years to provide practical guidance for students and teachers.
