Rao Bingzhu, a farmer in Liuyang Village, Xingan County, Jiangxi Province, scientifically raised chickens and embarked on the road of getting rid of poverty and becoming rich. Since last year, he has raised more than 8000 hemp chickens, earning an average of 6 yuan each, earning more than 48000 yuan for raising chickens, raising more than 3000 geese, earning 10 yuan for each goose, and earning more than 30,000 yuan for raising geese.

In the past, Rao Bingzhu relied on the traditional way of growing rice, with two crops of "wheat stubble rice and rice stubble wheat" twice a year, and a lot of investment was sweating, increasing production did not increase income, and the standard of living hovered on the line of subsistence, making it difficult for families to get rich. By chance, he saw a piece of information about getting rich in Henan Rural Daily: low investment in rice fields, low cost, simple equipment, low requirements for chicken coops, rapid growth and development, high egg laying rate, quick results, and great benefits. So he raised money around to buy more than 2000 chicks, ready to do a big job. However, due to the lack of scientific breeding technology, a chicken plague killed half of the chicks at once. In the face of this sudden blow, but he was soon freed from the pain, through calm reflection, realized that his failure was due to the loss of ignorance of science and technology. Since then, Rao Bingzhu took the initiative to participate in the cross-century science and technology training course for young farmers held by the Agricultural Broadcasting School of the County Agricultural Bureau, and systematically learned and mastered the practical skills of raising chickens in rice fields. In 2011, he borrowed 80, 000 yuan to buy back 7000 high-quality hemp chickens and used the 20 paddy fields he contracted as a breeding base to start his second sprint. Rao Bingzhu learned the lessons of past failures. He feeds chickens in strict accordance with the techniques he has learned, and regularly carries out disease prevention for chicks. He also combines natural stocking with feed feeding to drive chickens to rice fields to feed on grass and water larvae, which is beneficial for chickens to absorb trace elements in nature, accumulate nutrients, and promote hens to lay eggs early. In this way, Rao Bingzhu raising chickens in rice fields can not only prevent public hazards caused by the application of pesticides, but also reduce the cost of rice production, supplement the feed of chickens, and use chickens for weeding, pest hunting and fertilization, which is also beneficial to the growth of rice.

After the beginning of spring, while raising chickens, Rao Bingzhu hatched more than 2000 chicks, and then bought another 6000, reaching a scale of 8000 chickens, initially building a small family chicken farm.
