Villager Liu Changzhi is taking care of the melon flowers of taro pumpkins.

In Napeng Village, Dalong Town, Cenxi City, when the mountain wind blows through the field, it will bring bursts of taro flavor, but the fields are not taro, but pumpkins with taro smell. In order to get rid of poverty and take off the hat, Napeng Village set up a vegetable and fruit professional cooperative in Cenxi City, vigorously developed the characteristic industry-the cultivation of taro pumpkin, and helped the villagers increase their income through the development model of "company + professional cooperative + base + peasant household".

A few days ago, Liu Changzhi, a villager, was taking care of the taro pumpkins in the field at the vegetable and fruit professional cooperative farm in Cenxi City, Napeng Village. "it is expected that the harvest will begin in a month or so." Liu Changzhi said that about 200 taro pumpkin seedlings can be planted on one mu of land, and according to the harvest in previous years, it is estimated that 2000 kilograms of taro pumpkin can be produced per mu in terms of planting two crops in one year.

It is reported that as early as 2009, Liu Changzhi began to introduce and grow taro pumpkins in the village. because taro pumpkins have the characteristics of high yield and easy management, even if the price is more than double that of ordinary pumpkins, they are quickly sold out every time they appear on the market because of their unique taste and taste. Seeing business opportunities, Liu Changzhi began to constantly improve his planting methods. Over the past few years, he has also mastered the way to grow taro pumpkins, and hopes to further expand the planting scale and increase the income of other villagers.

It is understood that Napeng Village, with a population of nearly 4000, is located in the south of Dalong Town, Cenxi City, four kilometers away from the town government, and only one township four-level road leads to the town government. Although it has the characteristic agriculture of taro pumpkin, it is limited by the local natural conditions. the planting scale is small and the industrial drive is not strong.

To this end, Napeng Village set up a vegetable and fruit professional cooperative in Cenxi City in 2014 to vigorously develop the cultivation of taro pumpkin, explore the development model of "company + professional cooperative + base + farmers", and encourage and support poor families to join cooperatives, or in the form of land shares, make full use of the idle land of poor households. Through policy support, drive poor households to participate in planting, and professional cooperatives provide seedlings and technology to poor households free of charge and purchase at a guaranteed price. on the basis of the original planting, it plans to raise 300000 yuan to develop 200 mu of taro pumpkin planting, driving 25,30 poor households out of poverty, while expanding the planting scale will also increase the demand for rural labor and drive more farmers to increase their income and lift them out of poverty.

Ma Hua, first secretary of Napeng Village, said that in addition to developing the cultivation of taro pumpkins, Napeng Village will also develop aquaculture in the next step, and increase the sales channels of agricultural products and increase the income of poor households by setting up e-commerce service points. Through a variety of poverty alleviation channels and forms, the poverty alleviation work has changed from "blood transfusion" to "hematopoiesis", from "asking for money and materials" to "helping to build projects".
