Now is the time to eat plums. The bayberry tree in Yibin's largest large-scale bayberry planting base has already hung its fruit, and the mature bayberry is already red and black. In fact, Yibin is not the origin of red bayberry, so how was it introduced?

Yesterday, less than half an hour by car, the reporter came to Group 15 of Zhaochang Street Construction Village, Cuiping District, and saw the red bayberry tree covered with fruit on the hillside and his owner Li Yi. It turned out that he was the one who introduced red bayberry into Yibin. Li Yi's base is called Jinpo Family Farm, about 300mu, with 5000 bayberry trees growing densely on the hillside beside bend 3 of Foxianshan Highway.

According to Yan Fei, deputy director of the Agriculture, Forestry and Animal Husbandry Bureau of Cuiping District, this is a relatively successful case of introduction and localization of red bayberry in Yibin.

The wine merchant turned into the farmer and boldly tried foreign varieties.

Li Yi, who used to be a wine merchant, began to prepare to enter the forestry market in 2003 because he loved nature and longed for an idyllic life.

Li Yi found that there was no red bayberry in Yibin market at that time, but in Zhejiang, the market prospect of red bayberry was very good. The altitude of Qixing Mountain in Zhaochang, Yibin, is just suitable for the growth of red bayberry, so he began to look for partners. By chance, he met Li Liangxi, who had been dealing with tea for more than 30 years. One day in 2004, he suddenly wanted to try something else.

That's how the two became partners. In 2003, they bought 13 red bayberry seedlings for trial planting. In 2007, the 13 saplings hung fruit for the first time, "the taste is sour and sweet, weighed with a scale, each fruit has about 50 grams." The two bought 120 and 1200 bayberry seedlings in 2005 and 2006 respectively. In 2011, Waxberry Garden ushered in the first large-scale hanging fruit, with an average yield of 30-50 jin of bayberry, with an income of more than 10,000 yuan that year. Li Yi said that before and after, the farm planted about 6000 bayberry trees, and eventually survived about 5000, with a total investment of about 6 million yuan.

The think tank came up with the idea that the high yield period can reach 120000 jin.

It is the unforeseen that always happens. In 2013, a heavy rain stunned two people. In order to minimize the losses as much as possible, they called in technicians from the local forestry department to help. Under the guidance of technicians from the Bureau of Agriculture, Forestry and Animal Husbandry in Cuiping District, a "think tank", they put away some good bayberry to make bayberry wine, which tastes equally mellow.

After tasting the "benefits" of the think tank, the two men were greatly confident. whenever they encountered a problem in the process of planting red bayberry, they immediately thought of asking the think tank to go up the mountain to help solve it.

In addition to the local forestry department, Li Yi invites relevant experts from Zhejiang to the farm every year to guide and send employees out to learn skills.

"compared with the foreign bayberry which costs a few yuan a jin in the city, this bayberry is sweeter and more fresh." Li Yi said that at present, the bayberry sold in Yibin market is basically from Yunnan, and it takes at least three days to transport, affecting the freshness of bayberry. "at present, we have planted two varieties of bayberry trees, which are full of water, taste, big and fresh."

The bayberry tree begins to hang fruit gradually, and the output of bayberry is expected to reach about 2 tons this year. Li Yi said that this is just the beginning. 2-3 years later, when the bayberry tree reaches the high yield period, the total output of the whole farm will reach about 120000 jin.

It is mainly experiential picking that is not sold on the market.

In Yangmeilin, the two built a quaint courtyard courtyard. In the small pond in the courtyard, the lotus is in full bloom. In his spare time, Li Yi always sits on the bamboo rattan chair in the courtyard dam, tasting tea, reading books, and studying Lizhuang culture. Occasionally, when a guest comes, he is busy greeting him. In Li Yi's mind, planting bayberry is like life in the mountains, to bear loneliness. "it will take a long time for agriculture and forestry to achieve results. Now it has been 13 years, although the farm is not yet profitable, but still like this career. "

At present, due to the low output, Li Yi's farm does not receive too many guests, and the price of red bayberry is controlled at 20 yuan per jin. He said that in the future, the farm will continue to improve its reception capacity, and bayberry will not be sold in large quantities on the market, mainly by picking small fresh fruits through experience, so that citizens who come to play can not only taste the fresh bayberry, but also experience the fun of picking.

It is understood that in addition to bayberry on the farm, chickens are scattered everywhere under the bayberry forest, and blueberries, peaches, kiwifruit and other fruits are also planted in the nearby mountains.
