Overgrowth generally refers to the phenomenon of excessive growth of stems and leaves caused by uncoordinated nutrition. For succulent plants, the height is generally long and the stem is visible; the spacing between the leaves is elongated, not as compact and dense as before; and the leaves are rhomboid rather than flat.

In addition, after growing, the succulent color will fade. These are fatal for succulent plants, because many meat friends cannot accept all this, even become no longer in love, do not believe that they can raise well, and then give up. In fact, it is easy to know the reason why succulent people grow.

1. Insufficient ultraviolet rays

Why ultraviolet light instead of light? Because succulent plants have evolved for hundreds of millions of years, the amount of ultraviolet rays is always proportional to the amount of sunlight. If the sun is strong, there are more ultraviolet rays, so succulent plants simply judge the total amount of sunlight by the amount of ultraviolet rays.

However, what it never expected is that there is something called glass in the world, which can block 90% of ultraviolet rays, so its total sunlight statistics system fails. The flesh behind the glass always thinks that the light it receives is only 1/10 of the actual light, isn't it silly cute! If your flesh thinks that this light is enough, once its heart thinks that the light is below the threshold, it will take self-help measures.

Self-help method 1: spread the cake or even wear a skirt to expand the light area of the leaves.

Self-rescue method 2: grow too much, so that the occlusion between leaves is as little as possible, so as to improve the utilization rate of leaf area.

Therefore, if you are preparing for indoor breeding, it is best not to buy open-raised meat, meat grown in the greenhouse will be more suitable, because although the greenhouse light is good, but the lack of ultraviolet rays, so it is easier to bring back. In addition, often opening windows can also make some scattered ultraviolet rays come in to alleviate this symptom.

2. Overwatering

The overuse caused by too much watering is a problem caused by the mismatch between the amount of water and the amount of sunlight. When there is too much water in the leaves to be consumed by photosynthesis, there will be stems, and the expansion of vacuoles in the stems will make the meat use the little organic matter to construct the stem cells, causing the stem to grow excessively.

So, pour as much water as there is light. Greenhouse cultivation grows faster because of dozens of times more light than you, not because of the speed of watering. Those who advocate that they will not be caught in the rain casually are exposed meat, and those who live in their own homes still need to be abstemious.

3. The soil is too fertile (too much nitrogen fertilizer)

Domestic meat is generally treated with compound fertilizer, which must be dominated by nitrogen fertilizer (which can make leaves grow luxuriantly), but nitrogen fertilizer is not good for meat because it can speed up the division of their cells. If photosynthesis can not keep up, succulent meat will grow, and it is weak and easy to lodge.

In fact, compared with other flowers and plants, the biggest advantage of meat is slow growth and stable shape. If you really like it, there is no need to urge it to grow quickly to satisfy your pride, as long as it looks good. If it is to make money, it is best to rent a greenhouse.

In fact, meat has to be forced to grow poor, the soil is barren, succulent resistance can be stimulated, domestic meat can really not consider the matter of fertilization.

4. The position of succulent plants is not good.

The phototropism of meat is also one of the reasons for its overgrowth. If the meat is placed next to the windowsill, the first ray of sunlight every day can only find a little bit of the head of the meat. If I were it, I would desperately grow and stretch my neck to reach more sun. So, a balcony is definitely a great place to raise meat.

5. Dyspnea at the root

Because meat itself lives in arid mountains, its leaves have a weak ability to breathe. Stomata are closed during the day to keep moisture, and carbon dioxide is collected at night. Therefore, the task of breathing is left to the root.

Then, if the root of the meat does not breathe well, it will cause the whole plant to suffocate, and the photosynthesis of the meat will be much slower under the condition of hypoxia. The organic matter produced will be given priority to supply the stem, after all, the stem is the hub. This results in the excessive growth of the stem. Want to avoid this situation is also very simple, ventilation, water control. Flowerpots must have holes, water permeability and air permeability is good, otherwise there will be no overgrowth, there will be water, black rot and other problems.
