At the beginning of this year, under the influence of the cold spell, the price of vegetables was once high, and the price was unbearably high. At present, it is the season for leafy vegetables to be concentrated on the market, and as far as the reporter knows, vegetable prices have fallen in varying degrees recently. Consumers are full of joy at the same time, for vegetable farmers, this is a matter of concern.

So, is the decline in vegetable prices a normal response to the laws of the market? What will be the trend of prices in the future?

At present, it is the peak period for all kinds of vegetables to be listed in large quantities. According to the monitoring of the Ministry of Commerce, last week, the market prices of edible agricultural products in 36 large and medium-sized cities across the country continued to decline, and the prices of means of production in circulation continued to decline. Among them, the prices of eggplant, balsam pear, cauliflower and other vegetables fell by 9.4%, 9.2% and 7% respectively.

Farmer Lao Wan is a vegetable farmer in Shouguang, Shandong Province. recently, the prices of celery and zucchini grown in his family are not good. Lao Wan said that it is estimated that this depressed market will continue for some time and can only rely on output to make a profit.

Lao Wan: the quantity is so large, and then the supply exceeds the demand, the dealer will lower the price a little bit, then buy it, the price will be very low, resulting in the overall situation is not very good.

According to the reporter, in the north, the price of leafy vegetables has declined on a large scale. Li Tao, an analyst at Anhui Baida Zhougudui Agricultural products Wholesale Market, said that the increase in market supply has led to a decline in prices.

Dealer Li Dayou said that at present, the price of leafy vegetables is relatively low, profits are thin, coupled with the hot weather, increased labor costs, many dealers are not willing to sell leafy vegetables.

Li Dayou: because this leafy vegetable is risky and processed, the cost is relatively high, at least one jin plus 50 cents, it can be bought and sold.

Li Tao told the reporter that according to the trend of vegetable prices, April to June every year is the time when a large number of vegetables are on the market, and it is also the cheapest time of the year. At this time, the income for vegetable farmers will decline; as far as dealers are concerned, the dilution of profits also affects their enthusiasm.

Li Tao said that instead of changing planting decisions, it is better to dredge circulation links and make long-term planning.

Li Tao: small vegetable farmers should still develop together, either work together to train or seek a vegetable broker, or set up cooperatives to provide vegetable supply to catering enterprises, vegetable processing enterprises, and other scale in the name of cooperatives; for large vegetable growers, it is necessary to enrich the variety structure, strive for a variety of vegetables, divide the scale appropriately according to the market, and strive to increase unit output.

The price of vegetables in the north has fallen regularly, but what about the south?

The reporter saw in a farmer's market in Hangzhou that the number of local dishes in Hangzhou was small, and it was difficult to see green vegetables and hairy vegetables. Stall owner Wang Hong told reporters:

Wang Hong: it's hot now. Is it easy for green vegetables to rot?

Affected by the recent continuous rainy weather in the south, the output of local dishes in Hangzhou has decreased, the weather is hot and humid, and the shelf life of leafy vegetables is very short, which is easy to wilt, affecting sales, so stall owners do not want to buy leafy vegetables.

Stall owner A: now these vegetables, such as spinach and celery, have arrived. Is this vegetable rotten faster?

Stall owner B: if it is soaked continuously for more than 24 hours, it usually has rotten roots. One more photosynthesis and there will be no more.

Li Tao, an analyst at the Zhougudui Agricultural products Wholesale Market in Baida, Anhui Province, said that leafy vegetables are often affected by the weather. In the season of continuous rainfall, leafy vegetables take a lot of effort to harvest and increase in loss, without the intervention of non-local markets. The price of leafy vegetables will rise to a certain extent.

Li Tao: logistics is very convenient now, and it is very convenient to transport food from the south to the north and the regional market. Once there is a lack of supply in a region, it will be replenished in time from other markets, thus stabilizing prices. For the south where the cloudy and rainy weather is concentrated, vegetable farmers have suffered losses. After the flood season, they should plant some fast-growing vegetables in time to make up for their own losses.
