It has been learned that after more than 10 years of overcoming difficulties, the research group of Cai Run, a professor in the Department of Plant Science of the School of Agriculture and Biology of Jiaotong University, collected more than 800 varieties from home and abroad, and finally selected and bred a new variety of "fruit cucumber" with independent property rights, which is suitable for planting in various parts of the country, adding a new touch of green to the dining table of ordinary people.

The research group introduced and collected more than 800 fruit and cucumber materials from abroad and domestic cucumber resources. after more than ten years of efforts, through hybrid combination experiments combined with molecular marker-assisted breeding, various excellent characters were aggregated. finally, a new variety of fruit cucumber with independent property rights was selected, which is suitable for planting in various parts of China.

With the close combination of conventional crossbreeding and molecular marker-assisted breeding, the research group took the lead in constructing the technical system of cucumber molecular marker breeding in China, and cultivated 6 "Shenlu" series of fruit and cucumber varieties specially for greenhouse. The annual yield of cucumber in "Shenlu" series of fruits reaches 16000 kg per mu, and the rate of commercial melons is about 95%.

According to reports, during the period from 2012 to 2015, this new variety of cucumber was planted and popularized in *, Sichuan, Shandong, Zhejiang, Jiangsu, Yunnan, Jiangxi, Guangdong, Guangxi, Shanghai and other places. It was widely praised by farmers because of its outstanding resistance, quality and yield, with a total planting area of 301000 mu and an output value of 2 billion yuan.
