On June 13, growers were busy harvesting Zizania caduciflora at the 100-mu Zizania caduciflora planting base in Tangling Village, Panting Township.

According to Fu Yongsheng, head of the Tongjiaban Zizania caduciflora planting professional cooperative in the village, he did business in Zhejiang in his early years. In 2012, he found that there was a huge profit margin for growing Zizania caduciflora, so he specially went to the home of a farmer in Shengzhou, Zhejiang to learn his skills. "in March 2015, we established a professional cooperative for planting Zizania caduciflora in Tongjiaban, Panting Township, which now has 25 members and a planting area of more than 350 mu." Fu Yongsheng said that the cost of planting Zizania caduciflora is relatively low, and farmers grow it on their own. The cost per mu is about 700 yuan, and it can produce two seasons a year. The first season is from May to June, the yield per mu is 2000 to 4000 jin, and the second season is in October, the yield per mu is 2000 to 3000 jin. "the annual profit of planting Zizania caduciflora is more than 3000 yuan per mu, which is twice as high as that of growing rice." Fu Yongsheng said that because Zizania caduciflora is mainly planted in paddy fields and is easy to grow old, farmers also have to harvest it on rainy days, which is labor-intensive.

"at present, our cooperative carries out unified management and sales, and the harvested Zizania caduciflora is transported to a leased freezer to keep fresh, and after there is enough for a truckload, it will be transported to farmers' markets in Fuzhou, Xiamen, and Zhangzhou." Fu Yongsheng said: at present, it is the harvest time for Zizania caduciflora, and farmers have to go to the fields to cut down old roots, fertilize and weed at the same time, so as to promote the growth of new roots.

In order to further expand the planting scale, Fu Yongsheng also guided a farmer in Jiumu Zhonglong Village to plant 50 mu of Zizania caduciflora, which was uniformly transported to the freezer for shipment.
