Chen Yeshi carefully inspected the rice planted in the farmland.

Yesterday afternoon, the sun was blazing. Chen Yeshi came to the rice field in front of Tonggu Village, Kelu Town, Leizhou City: "These 1800 mu rice fields are all interest-free projects supported by the World Bank. According to the requirements of the World Food and Oil Organization, chemical fertilizers and pesticides should not be applied during the whole planting process, so that the rice fields can be restored to their original appearance. So I basically have to patrol every day." Wearing a pair of gold-rimmed glasses, it would be difficult to associate him with an "agricultural idiot" if his skin was not darker than that of a farmer.

Chen Yeshi is a native of the attached town of Leizhou City. He resigned from Zhanjiang Maritime Safety Administration in 2003 and started a logistics company in Shenzhen. After several years of hard work, he has a lot of money and an annual income of over ten million yuan. He owns two houses including a duplex. In 2011, when he returned home to visit his parents, he saw that many farmers in rural areas were unwilling to farm and felt very uncomfortable. In addition, the state attached more and more importance to agriculture, so he hoped to go home to develop agriculture. However, this decision was strongly opposed by his wife, and his sister also flew back from the United States to dissuade him. In the end, Chen Yeshi insisted on his dream of pursuing agriculture and gave up the big city to return to his hometown. At the end of the year, his wife divorced him.

After returning to his hometown, he first established the city's first rice cooperative in Dapu Village, an attached town of Leizhou City. "At first, our mouths were worn out, but the peasants refused to join our co-operatives." Chen Yeshi mechanized the cultivation of several hundred mu of farmland transferred by himself from ploughing, sowing, transplanting and harvesting, and the yield, quality and income were higher than those of individual investors. After several years of demonstration, his rice cooperatives have increased from the first few households to the current 168 households. Later, he successively established the East Western Breeding Cooperative and the Farm Agricultural Cooperative. The transferred land expanded to Tonggu Village, Keluzhen, and the area increased to more than 5000 mu.

Just when Chen Yeshi was confident and looked forward to a bumper harvest, the patronage of strong typhoons "Seagull" and "Weimason" caused Chen Yeshi to suffer heavy losses. Only a few thousand mu of bananas to be listed lost millions of yuan. "I was exhausted and really wanted to give up. Later, the local government urgently sent hundreds of thousands of yuan to solve the urgent need." After the typhoon, he stood up from the mud and returned to Shenzhen last year, where he had been absent for a long time. He liquidated and sold the two suites, including the duplex, and raised 16 million yuan of funds, all of which were used to resume production and continue to expand production.

Remember, there will be echoes. This year, he planted sweet potatoes, taro, fragrant rice, red rice harvest, profit millions of yuan, the dawn. At present, the son who graduated from Guangdong University of Finance and Economics was infected by his father's spirit of pursuing agricultural dreams and voluntarily returned to the company as chairman of the board of supervisors. The leaders of the Provincial Department of Agriculture, Zhanjiang and Leizhou City visited his base many times and encouraged him. "China has a Chinese dream, and my dream is an agricultural dream. I don't regret selling a house to pursue my dream." Chen Yeshi's face revealed determination.

"He was a tiller and a bearer of hope for local agriculture." Peng Bin, head of the poverty alleviation team of the Provincial Department of Agriculture in Namau Village, Leizhou, expressed admiration for Chen Yeshi, who pursued his dreams all the way. It is reported that Chen Yeshi is cooperating with the poverty alleviation task force to prepare to accurately help farmers get out of poverty. At present, his company has been evaluated as a leading enterprise in Zhanjiang City.
