The 49-year-old not only succeeded in starting her own business, but also led the villagers to become rich. Poor families can buy goods from her on credit and pay after they have made money. She is the farmer of Chongmai Town, Liucheng County, Liuzhou City, the champion sericulture girl, and the outstanding Communist Party member Wei Meifen.

On June 24, when the reporter saw Wei Meifen in the community of Chongmai Town, Liucheng County, she had just come out from the residents' homes to help the masses go through the formalities of participating in the new agricultural insurance. Today, Wei Meifen has multiple identities. Since 2008, she has served as the director of Chongmai Community and the founder of the Silkworm Co-rearing Base, and led the establishment of a professional silkworm cooperative with more than 300 members.

Wei Meifen began to raise silkworms in 2005 and mastered the skilled techniques of planting mulberry and sericulture through study. In 2006, she took the lead in building a small silkworm rearing farm in Chongmai Town, and then took the lead in setting up a silkworm association and a silkworm professional cooperative. By 2007, the mulberry area of Wei Meifen had expanded to 50 mu, becoming the boss of the largest sericulture base in Liucheng County and becoming a million-dollar sericulture girl. Today, she has grown from raising dozens of silkworm eggs a year to 8000 eggs a year. She not only became rich herself, but also led the villagers to obtain employment and become rich.

During the breeding period of each batch of young silkworms, Wei Meifen hired 20 villagers to take care of their daily work. The villagers not only do not delay their farm work, but also get a high monthly salary. When selling silkworms, Wei Meifen is supplied to farmers at lower than the market price, or sold to poor farmers on credit. After that, Wei Meifen took the initiative to guide the villagers to raise scientifically, and the villagers could make a profit of 10 times after a month or so of raising.

It is understood that those poor households who buy silkworm eggs on credit can pay after making money, and some can even delay payment until the next year. Wei Meifen's good deeds made many local people get rich and increase their income by planting mulberry and sericulture. Driven by Wei Meifen, Chongmai Town currently covers an area of more than 10,000 mu, and the per capita income of farmers in the town is nearly 4000 yuan.
