"if you have a problem with fish farming, find Lieberthal." For aquaculture farmers in Pingyuan County, Meizhou City, Guangdong Province, Lieberthal, head of the Aquatic Unit of the County Agricultural Bureau, is not only an expert, but also their free "technical director". Lieberthal, with 33 years of continuous innovation in aquaculture technology, led the masses to start a business to become rich, recently won the Guangdong Province "innovation-driven development" outstanding Communist Party members.

To be the technical director of voluntary farming.

Walking into Nantaishan Hot Spring Aquaculture Co., Ltd., in Zhongdong Village, Shizheng Town, Lieberthal pointed to a large and small aquaculture pond and told reporters: "there are more than 20 ponds and more than 10 kinds of fish." This pond raises white Pomfret, that pond raises tilapia, and some ponds raise eels and freshwater sharks. " Then, he squatted down to carefully observe the fish in the pond to see if they were normal and oxygenated, and taught the head of the company warm water aquaculture technology and experience. "he is the 'director' of our free farming technology." Qiu Xiaoyu, general manager of the breeding company, said jokingly.

After Qiu Xiaoyu and others took over the hot spring breeding base in 2009, they wanted to develop leisure agriculture with hot spring resources, but under the "lobbying" of Lieberthal, they embarked on the road of professional aquaculture. Since taking over, all the breeding technical problems, large and small, have turned to Lieberthal for advice and help, and Lieberthal often comes over on weekends for technical guidance. At present, the fish farmed by the company are very popular in the Pearl River Delta, and there are more and more aquatic products, with an annual output of more than 200 tons and an output value of more than 10 million yuan.

"the resources here are unique. The hot spring water temperature is 28 ℃ and does not contain sulfur. It is one of the few places in the country suitable for raising warm-water fish. The fish raised are high in calcium." Lieberthal said that when recommending aquaculture "rare" aquatic species, he will conduct experiments in advance to find out the characteristics of fish and breeding difficulties, so as to avoid losses to farmers.

Continuous introduction of aquaculture varieties

"I just want to use what I have learned and experience to help farmers start their own businesses and become rich and improve their lives." Lieberthal said. Over the past 33 years, he has improved his knowledge and accumulated breeding experience by reading books and walking into the village, and has maintained the habit of keeping his mobile phone on 24 hours a day, making it convenient for the masses to contact at any time.

A relevant person in charge of the county's agricultural bureau told reporters that Lieberthal dared to innovate, and according to the characteristics of small, old, scattered and relatively low farming levels of local ponds, combined with the biological characteristics of relevant aquatic varieties, constantly "refreshed" the county's aquaculture varieties, introducing new varieties such as freshwater white Pomfret, Macrobrachium rosenbergii, high-quality crucian carp, white jade snail, and so on. High-quality crucian carp has become one of the main species in the county, which can increase the fishery output value of nearly 10 million yuan for farmers in the county and nearly 50 million yuan for the whole city every year. Pingyuan has become the first Baiyu snail breeding base in Guangdong, attracting 200 farmers to breed in the past 5 years and making a profit of 6.8 million yuan.

Lieberger Quan also actively promoted the "fish-livestock-marsh" ecological breeding technology to reduce production costs and improve economic benefits. The average yield per mu of ponds in the county has increased from 350kg before 2004 to 695kg, and the output value per mu has increased from 3500 yuan to 7000 yuan, which can increase the output value of more than 8 million yuan for farmers in the county every year and save more than 2 million yuan in cost.
