The picture shows Camellia oleifera in full bloom.

Vast Dongting water, leisurely love in China. Located in a hilly area of Renyi Village, Zhongzhou Township, Yueyang County, every October, white camellias sway with the wind, fragrance. In the past, barren mountains turned waste into treasure, and the lives of the people were prosperous with each passing day.

Foreign trade elites return home to grow Camellia oleifera

"this is the Camellia oleifera seedlings that we have planted for five years. Don't look at the small tree, as long as you take good care of it. Last year, our largest plant harvested more than 30 jin of Camellia oleifera fruit. This is not the time for high yield." Guo Xiangan, who is nearly sixty years old, showed his Camellia oleifera tree to reporters with a smile.

Guo Xiangan, a native of Yueyang County, has been engaged in import and export business in Russia for 17 years. In 2008, he learned that Liuyang held the first on-the-spot meeting of Camellia oleifera work in Liuyang, personally went to the scene to investigate and study, and immediately took a fancy to the market prospect of Camellia oleifera. He resolutely decided to return home to start a business to plant Camellia oleifera. In 2009, Yueyang Haoran Camellia oleifera industry professional cooperative was established, attracting 145households and 3000 mu of Camellia oleifera forest area. In 2011, it was awarded "Provincial demonstration Cooperative to do practical things for the people" by the provincial party committee and provincial government. Camellia oleifera began to hang its first fruit after five years of planting, and reached a high yield period in the eighth year. One mu of Camellia oleifera forest could produce 2000 jin of tea fruit, 75Mu of tea oil and 80kg of tea oil per mu, and the gross income per mu of Camellia oleifera forest exceeded 4000 yuan.

The primary, secondary and tertiary industries are in full bloom

"the government has guided the all-round development of our primary, secondary and tertiary industries, and we are also moving in this direction." Guo Xiangan described the development plan of the cooperative for the next five years.

The primary industry does a good job in the cultivation of Camellia oleifera. "our cooperative is also a training base for Camellia oleifera. Some friends in Yueyang County who are interested in planting Camellia oleifera often come to our base to visit and study. We all provide technical support free of charge, and even go to other Camellia oleifera bases for technical guidance."

Secondary industry is to do a good job of deep processing. In 2015, cooperatives invested 25.5 million yuan to stay in Taiwan Farmers' Entrepreneurship Park in Yueyang, Hunan Province, set up Camellia oleifera processing enterprises, and formed a company + cooperative + peasant household management model. It is estimated that the annual sales will reach 120 million yuan and the annual profit will reach 50 million yuan after it is put into production.

The tertiary industry is the development of tourism. Camellia oleifera blossoms in the process of fruiting, and the flowering period is as long as 2mi for 3 months, commonly known as "holding son and carrying child". "We can enjoy not only camellias, but also 60,000 mu of lake next to camellias. It is quite comfortable to visit the lake and enjoy flowers, fish and walk, and spend the day here on weekends to see the pastoral scenery and eat farm food." When it comes to tourism prospect planning, Guo Xiangan goes on and on.

Drive the people to get rich

The prospect and benefit of Camellia oleifera is good, and the seedlings of Camellia oleifera in the cooperative are growing smoothly, attracting a group of villagers to join them, visit and learn skills, and then grow Camellia oleifera together. Zou Xianwen is one of the big growers. In 2014, he was still a migrant worker. After returning to his hometown, he took a fancy to the prospect of Camellia oleifera. He contracted nearly 800mu of barren mountain to grow Camellia oleifera, and invested nearly 2 million yuan. This year, we also tried the economy under the forest, planting watermelons under the saplings, not only saving fertilizer and reducing the number of medication, but also avoiding growing grass. In addition to the considerable output of watermelons, the saplings are also growing energetically.

"at the beginning, I saw that Camellia oleifera had a profit year after year, and it was well taken care of. The longest period of income was 80 years. I often went to the cooperative to learn the technology. Watching the effect of their planting, I was more confident." In the face of the future, Zou Xianwen's face is firm.
