Last Updated: 2024/11/05, The "post-85 generation" returned home to be a leading goose to become rich.

The picture shows Wu Shuang and his lotus root base.

He worked, sold vegetables, ran long distances, and finally chose to return to the land where he was born and raised. Wu Shuang, a "post-85" migrant worker who returned to his hometown, set up a green ark agricultural products professional cooperative in Caidian Xinbang Village in 2014 and opened up a 2800 mu lotus root industrial park to plant Caidian lotus root. Last year, the cooperative produced 3 million kilograms of lotus root and sold lotus root, with a sales income of 12.17 million yuan, leading to an increase in the income of hundreds of farmers.

Set up cooperatives to lead villagers to get rich

At the age of 19, Wu Shuang, who graduated from technical secondary school, began to go out to work and did not earn much money for many years. Later, when he returned to his hometown, Cai Dian, he gritted his teeth and spent 28000 yuan on an agricultural vehicle and went to the Baishazhou market to do wholesale vegetable business for five years.

Because there is no vegetable base, Wu Shuang's supply is not guaranteed, and most of them buy goods with the crowd, and the purchase price is often decided by the seller. if the market is not good, a loss will be tens of thousands of yuan. "it won't work to rely on others to make a living like this." Wu Shuang came up with the idea of building a self-planting base to create an one-stop industrial chain of planting, transportation and sales.

After 10 years of hard work, Wu Shuang already had a small fortune at that time. I heard that he would "go back to his hometown to farm" again, but many relatives and friends were not optimistic about it, thinking that farming was futile and worried that he would waste the money he had earned. However, Wu Shuang made up his mind and contributed 2 million yuan to attract friends who had previously worked in the vegetable business to buy shares. In December 2014, the Green Ark Agricultural products Cooperative was established. The cooperative has a total of five shareholders, and Wu Shuang is the chairman. Through the way of land transfer, they break up the scattered farming land of farmers, set up planting bases and realize large-scale management.

"at that time, the idea was very simple. I wanted to make money, and I also wanted the villagers to make money together." What Wu Shuang said was very true.

Cai Dian lotus root was sold to Urumqi.

Cai Dian is the hometown of lotus root. Wu Shuang's first thought was to grow lotus root. What kind of lotus root is suitable? Wu Shuang made a special trip to the Hubei Academy of Agricultural Sciences and Wuhan Aquatic vegetable Research Institute to seek advice from experts. under the advice of experts, he tried to grow four or five varieties of lotus root and finally selected "Elian No. 5." "this kind of lotus root is crisp and white, and it will not turn black after long-distance transportation for several days, so it is very suitable for opening up markets outside the province." Wu Shuang said that they wanted to sell Cai Dian lotus root to other places from the very beginning.

The land transferred by the co-operatives turned out to be dry land and could not grow lotus roots. Wu Shuang asked someone to transform dry land into paddy fields, built roads that could pass cars in the fields, and erected telephone poles. "before the lotus root began to grow, the early investment cost more than 8 million yuan." speaking of the experience at the beginning of the establishment of the cooperative, Wu Shuang's feeling was tired but full of hope.

In April 2015, the cooperative sowed the first batch of lotus root, about 1500 mu. Wu Shuang ran to the field almost every day to protect the lotus root field. It rained heavily, feared flooding, became sunny, feared drought, spent too much, and feared robbing the lotus root of its nutrients.

In October of that year, lotus roots were harvested one after another. Wu Shuang took the lotus root to the trade fair, touch the market, go to the market, and find customers. Because of the good quality of lotus root, the lotus root produced by the Green Ark Cooperative quickly entered the markets of Taiyuan and Urumqi in Shanxi Province. In that year, the sales of lotus root reached 3 million kilograms.

And build a lotus root processing plant.

At present, the land used for the transfer of Green Ark cooperatives comes from hundreds of farmers in Caidian, who used to farm their own land, with an annual income of more than 1000 yuan per mu of land. After the transfer of land, their annual rental income of one mu of land is about 900 yuan, and they usually grow and harvest lotus roots in cooperatives and receive wages. "as a result, the annual income will increase by about 50%." Wu Shuang got even and said.

Driven by the Green Ark Cooperative, some farmers who used to grow corn and rice around the plantation also began to plant lotus roots on a trial basis. Wu Shuang readily provided them with technical support and helped to buy their lotus roots for export. At present, the area of lotus root plantation in Green Ark Cooperative has increased to 2800 mu, and the output of lotus root is expected to exceed 5 million kg this year.

Next, Wu Shuang plans to build a lotus root agricultural product processing plant to produce lotus root flour, dried lotus root slices, and so on. In Wu Shuang's plan, the green ark will create a "new world of lotus roots".
