Recently, the sun is shining, in Jianghe Village, Fuxing Town, Zhongxian County, watermelon planting land is connected with one after another, the green evil spirit is good-looking.

At present, it is Zhongxian local watermelon centralized listing period, the author chose a piece of melon vine lush land, pulled out the vine looked dumbfounded-there is no watermelon. Look carefully, there are only three melons in this watermelon field.

Is it because of the early torrential rain that the yield of melon land here has been reduced? Or is it that the planting technology is not skillful and the harvest is poor?

"you are late. We have sold almost all the watermelons in our village." Wang Zonghua, the owner of the watermelon field, said proudly, "if it had been half a month earlier, the ground would have been full of big watermelons."

When it comes to why it is so popular, Wang Zonghua said that there are three main reasons: first, group development, second, skillfully playing time difference, and third, excellent quality.

Scale development and rapid increase in income

Wang Zonghua said that in the past, Jianghe Village was a poor village, and the villagers mainly planted corn or wheat. People formed a bond with melons 15 years ago, when villager Wang Zongliang successfully planted watermelons. "the big ones are 2 yuan / jin and the smaller ones are 1.5 yuan / jin, which is a good deal."

The following year, Wang Zonghua planted 100 watermelons on a trial basis, producing more than 1000 jin of watermelons and selling them for more than 1000 yuan.

While feeling the joy of a bumper harvest, he also figured out some problems. At that time, there was only one muddy road leading to Fuxingchang Town in Jianghe Village, and they had to carry watermelons to the town or county for sale. "as long as you pick a town, no matter how many watermelons there are, they will soon be sold out." But labor costs are high and transportation costs are high, he said. "if only someone came to buy it." Wang Zonghua took the initiative to find a fruit wholesaler, but as soon as he heard that only a few were growing watermelons, he directly rejected him.

After returning to the village, Wang Zonghua found the village cadres and asked them to mobilize the villagers to grow watermelons. In 2010, more than 30 villagers began to grow melons one after another. Subsequently, the road from Fuxingchang Town to Jianghe Village was hardened and reformed. "now, there is no need for us to ship it out, there will be vendors coming to buy it." Wang Zonghua said with a smile that several Shizhu bosses had to buy five or six tons of watermelons every time.

Today, nearly 180 mu of watermelons have been planted in Jianghe Village, resulting in an increase in the income of many villagers, many of whom are poor households with cards.

Take the lead in playing time difference.

Seeing that the author was a little disappointed because of "missing" watermelons, Wang Zonghua thought about it and said, "Wang Zongming planted a little later this year, and there should still be watermelons left unsold. Let's go and have a look."

Sure enough, there are still a lot of watermelons lying in the melon field of Wang Zongming's family. The author picked one at hand, and once weighed, it weighed 19.5 jin.

"our watermelons are big, juicy and absolutely sweet. Try it if you don't believe it." Wang Zongming said that his watermelons have been sold for more than 7000 yuan this year. "when we sow watermelons every year in Jianghe Village, we sow watermelons about 15 days earlier than in other places, and the time of maturity is also ahead of time." Therefore, when the local sweet potato in Zhongxian County is not yet mature, the one here has matured ahead of time to seize the market opportunity.

"misplaced" planting melons are sweet

It is understood that the wholesale price of watermelons in Jianghe Village is 1 to 1.5 yuan per jin, and the general retail price sold in the county is only 1 yuan per jin. In addition to the above two reasons, Wang Zonghua says, it also has something to do with their own "misplaced" planting method.

The so-called "misplaced" planting method is that a watermelon field is planted horizontally in the first year and vertically in the second year; when transplanting watermelon seedlings in the second year, the place where the watermelon seedlings are transplanted in the first year must be staggered. In addition, each piece of land can not grow watermelons for more than two years, the land for two years can either "rest" or plant other crops, and watermelons can be replanted after three years.

At the same time, the river villagers also have a sweet trick, that is, the fermented cow dung is mixed into the rapeseed cake as the base fertilizer of watermelon.
