The wide tidal range of the shoal adjacent to Dandong is large, affected by the runoff of Yalu River and Dayang River, the exchange of offshore waters is active, the seawater salinity is moderate, and the bait organisms are rich, which makes Dandong rich and tender aquatic animals such as yellow clam. It is reported that in 2011, Dandong Huangjianzi was registered through the geographical indications of the Ministry of Agriculture. Yuan Tian said that in 2013, they bred 38.7 million young shellfish, with an average shell length of 465.3 microns. 120 million young shellfish were bred in 2014, with an average shell length of 1.3mm. This year, they finally bred 54.12 million young shellfish with an average shell length of 5.4mm. In July this year, the technology project of artificial breeding and intermediate cultivation of Chinese clam successfully passed the appraisal of scientific and technological achievements of Dandong Science and Technology Bureau.
