Desert gold is also known as desert gold. Desert sunflower plants generally blossom in January and February and reappear sporadically in October and November. They are the first annual wild flowers to bloom in spring.
As the name implies, the furry desert sunflower is a close relative of the tall garden sunflower we all know and love. It reached a height of up to 30 inches (76 centimeters). The plant is an important pollinator. Interestingly, it attracts a specific type of bee, which is completely dependent on the pollen of desert sunflowers. Bees leave the protection of underground caves in time to take advantage of early spring flowers.
How to plant desert sunflowers
There really isn't much desert sunflower planting. Just plant the seeds and keep the soil moist until they germinate. Late autumn is the best time to grow desert sunflowers.
Furry desert sunflowers need plenty of sunlight, and as mentioned above, they like barren, dry, gravel or sandy soil.
Once established, desert sunflower care is minimal because plants need very little water, but do benefit from occasional watering in hot summers.
Desert sunflower plants do not need fertilizer. Wild flowers usually do not survive in over-fertile soil. Like most wild flowers, desert sunflowers usually grow on their own if conditions are right.
