I. Development status of broiler breeding industry

Poultry farming has a history of more than 5000 years in China. Since more than 30 years of reform and opening up, China's poultry industry has made rapid development. Poultry production and egg production have been the first in the world and the second in the world for many years. At the present stage, it is going through a transition period: from simple mode of production, low production efficiency and low production level to modern farming mode.

At present, the output of poultry eggs in China ranks first in the world, and the total amount of poultry eggs is about 40%. The production capacity of chicken in China ranks second in the world, but due to the limitation of product quality, the export of poultry products in China is not very smooth.

Generally speaking, the characteristics of China's poultry breeding industry are as follows: the industrial model of small-scale and large groups still occupies an important position, and the modern breeding model is on the rise; the production conditions are simple, the equipment implementation is different, and the overall investment is insufficient; the production efficiency and production level are uneven, the overall efficiency and level are low, the product is original, the commodity attribute is low, and the brand marketing is weak. The proportion of domestic sales of products is high, and the proportion of processing and export is low.

II. New normal of China's broiler breeding industry

At present, the new normal of broiler breeding in China has four characteristics:

The first is overcapacity. From 2010 to 2013, the introduction of ancestral generations of Chinese white-feathered broilers was increasing, and a large number of imports led to serious overcapacity, resulting in oversupply in both parent generation and commercial generation market. As a result, China's white-feathered broiler industry has suffered a series of losses since 2013.

The second is the risk of disease. For a long time, the biosafety environment of our country will not be greatly improved, but the poultry breeding quantity of our country has been hovering at a high level, in addition, in the transitional period of industrial structure adjustment, the coexistence of various breeding methods, the increasing speed of pathogen variation and virulence, the increase of new diseases and the increase of conditional pathogens make the epidemic prevention and control situation of China's poultry breeding industry more and more serious.

The third is the policy to promote industrial transformation and upgrading. In the past two years, in order to promote the transformation and upgrading of bulk farmers, the state has issued a lot of laws and regulations for livestock and poultry breeding, raising the threshold of entry for the breeding industry, but the establishment of the supervision system for implementation is not perfect.

The fourth is the risk on the consumer side. As the public pays more and more attention to food safety, the shadow of bird flu still hangs over the poultry industry, and the negative impact of fast-growing chickens, there are still misunderstandings about industrialized white-feathered broilers, which need to be continuously publicized to consumers in order to change.

Third, the development prospect of Chinese broiler breeding industry.

With the development of the global economy and the acceleration of the process of integration, the global chicken consumption will continue to grow in the future. We can foresee that broiler products will become the largest meat consumer goods in most countries in the near future. With the rapid development of China's economy and the continuous improvement of people's living standards, the total demand for chicken is also gradually increasing. At present, the per capita chicken consumption of the United States is 44.03 kg and that of the European Union is 19.40 kg, which is much higher than the per capita consumption of 9.38 kg in China. There is still a lot of room for development in China's broiler industry.

From the domestic situation, because the broiler has the characteristics of high feed reward, fast turnover and high profit, and with the sustained and rapid growth of China's economy, the consumption demand for chicken will continue to increase, and the chicken meat is rich in nutrients and unique flavor. the consumption of chicken will continue to increase, and the prospect of domestic broiler industry is bright.
