According to the fixed-point monitoring of livestock and poultry products and feed prices in 500 fairs nationwide, the prices of live pigs, pork, beef and corn remained flat in the fourth week of August (collection date: August 24), while the prices of piglets, mutton and fresh milk decreased, and the prices of poultry products rose.

Pig prices. The average price of live pigs nationwide was 18.62 yuan/kg, flat with the previous week and up 2.3% compared with the same period last year. Live pig prices rose in 17 provinces, remained flat in 1 province and declined in 12 provinces. The average price of live pigs in northwest China is higher, 19.23 yuan/kg, and lower in northeast China, 17.77 yuan/kg. The average price of pork nationwide was 29.7 yuan/kg, unchanged from the previous week and up 4.8% year-on-year. Pork prices rose in 13 provinces, remained flat in 3 provinces and fell in 14 provinces. The average price of pork in Southwest China is higher at 30.34 yuan/kg, while that in Northeast China is lower at 28.6 yuan/kg. The average price of piglets nationwide was 46.9 yuan/kg, down 0.4% from the previous week and up 34.9% year-on-year. Piglet prices rose in 8 provinces, remained flat in 2 provinces and declined in 20 provinces.

Egg prices. The average price of eggs nationwide was 9.2 yuan/kg, up 2.4% from the previous week and down 12% year-on-year. The average price of eggs in Hebei, Liaoning and other 10 major producing provinces was 7.77 yuan/kg, up 5.6% from the previous week and down 16.2% year-on-year. The average price of live chicken nationwide was 18.62 yuan/kg, up 0.1% from the previous week and down 2.2% year-on-year; the average price of white striped chicken was 18.97 yuan/kg, up 0.2% from the previous week and down 1.3% year-on-year. The average price of commercial broiler chickens was 3.4 yuan/chicken, flat with the previous week and up 6.9% year-on-year; the average price of commercial broiler chickens was 3.2 yuan/chicken, up 1.9% from the previous week and 16.4% year-on-year.

Beef and mutton prices. The average price of beef nationwide was 61.8 yuan/kg, unchanged from the previous week and down 1.7% year-on-year. The average price of beef in Hebei, Liaoning, Jilin, Shandong and Henan provinces was 55.37 yuan/kg, up 0.3% from the previous week; the average price in Shanghai, Zhejiang, Fujian, Guangdong and Jiangsu provinces was 73.53 yuan/kg, down 0.1% from the previous week. The national average price of mutton was 54.67 yuan/kg, down 0.2% from the previous week and 8.9% year-on-year. The average price of mutton in Hebei, Inner Mongolia, Shandong, Henan and ** provinces was 50.39 yuan/kg, down 0.5% from the previous week; the average price in Shanghai, Zhejiang, Fujian, Jiangxi and Guangdong provinces was 64.89 yuan/kg, down 0.2% from the previous week.

Fresh milk prices. The average price of fresh milk in 10 major dairy producing provinces (regions) such as Inner Mongolia and Hebei was 3.39 yuan/kg, down 0.3% from the previous week and 0.6% year-on-year.

Feed prices. The national average price of corn was 2.07 yuan/kg, unchanged from the previous week and down 15.2% year-on-year. The average price of corn in the three northeastern provinces of the main producing area was 1.9 yuan/kg, which was the same as that of the previous week; the corn price in the main selling area of Guangdong Province was 2.24 yuan/kg, up 0.9% from the previous week. The national average price of soybean meal was 3.44 yuan/kg, unchanged from the previous week and up 4.6% year-on-year. The average price of compound feed for fattening pigs was 3.1 yuan/kg, which was the same as the previous week and decreased by 4.3% year-on-year. The average price of broiler compound feed was 3.14 yuan/kg, which was the same as the previous week and decreased by 5.4% year-on-year. The average price of compound feed for laying hens was 2.87 yuan/kg, unchanged from the previous week and down 5.6% year-on-year.
