Farmer Ye Qiying produces "international model" of sweet potato.

On September 3, Ye Qiying, a villager from Letang Village, Zhenyang Town, Zhengyang County, came to his sweet potato field early in the morning to check the growth of sweet potatoes. Thinking that the new varieties cultivated this year will be harvested in a few days and will be unveiled at this year's "China Agricultural and processing Fair," Ye Qiying can't help but feel excited.

"I attend the Farmers' Conference every year. I have attended the 18th session. The conference has made me famous and there has been a steady stream of orders." Ye Qiying recalled that he signed an order of 150000 yuan at the first Congress, and then more and more every year. At the agricultural negotiation conference in 2009, he signed a large order of 450000 yuan.

"We must continue to learn and innovate in order to develop." Ye Qiying said: he not only attends the annual "China Agricultural processing Fair," but also often participates in some scientific and technological exchange meetings, from which he draws nourishment and constantly improves himself. One year, when his sweet potato was on display at the conference, he was chosen by an African merchant, who then negotiated with Ye Qiying to sell sweet potato seedlings to Africa at a price of 10 yuan per plant. "the sweet potato 'Meiying No.1' that I cultivated once produced 87.5 kilograms per plant!" Ye Qiying said happily that his sweet potato was named the national "king of sweet potato" at the conference, and Ye Qiying was also known by experts as the "king of Chinese sweet potato."

Today, Ye Qiying organizes 380 farmers in the village to set up Zhengyang Meiying Sweet Potato Professional Cooperative to extend "Meiying No. 1" sweet potato to more than 200 counties and cities in more than 10 provinces and Southeast Asia. On April 28, 2015, the "Chinese sweet potato king" walked into the Great Hall of the people to attend the award ceremony of the "National Agricultural Model" and was received by General Secretary Xi Jinping.

"this year, I have cultivated a new variety, and I am going to take it to the conference to participate in the exhibition!" Ye Qiying is looking forward to the upcoming "China Agricultural processing Fair".
