However, about 98 per cent of Xuwen's more than 260000 mu of pineapple is a common variety "Bali". In this way, the variety factor is an important reason for the unsalable pineapple this time.

One of the old varieties, "Bali", has been for decades. Local agricultural departments and farmers are not unaware of the advantages of new varieties. Farmers have a high voice for new varieties, and local efforts have been made in the promotion of new varieties. However, due to the lack of seedlings and funds, planting management is difficult, resulting in the embarrassment of still relying on old varieties to dominate the world. China Agricultural University has also promoted pineapple planting technology such as water and fertilizer integration in Xuwen, which is also difficult to push away. Compared with Hainan, which is close at hand, one of the important reasons for the rapid development of pineapple industry is the rapid promotion of new varieties, more advanced planting technology and great attention to product quality. This shows that the introduction and popularization of new varieties is a basic decisive factor to promote the production and marketing of pineapple.

In fact, as a new variety of agricultural technological innovation, its introduction and planting is a numerous systematic project of agricultural extension, which is far from a technical problem, but also a comprehensive and all-level construction of agriculture, farmers, and rural areas. it is necessary to design scientifically, carry out as a whole, collect the forces of agriculture, finance, and other parties, cooperate and promote together in order to achieve practical results. Agrotechnical personnel are mainly over 50 years old, young and middle-aged are few, the proportion of professional and technical personnel is low, and there are deficiencies in education and training, especially in the eastern and western wings of the province and the mountainous areas of northern Guangdong. 91% of the province's people engaged in agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry, sideline and fishing, their education level is below junior high school, and only about 3% have received various professional training.

Due to the imperfect system and mechanism of agricultural technology extension, the contribution rate of agricultural science and technology and the conversion rate of agricultural technology achievements in Guangdong are much lower than those in developed countries, which is not commensurate with the image of Guangdong as a major economic province. At the same time, it also affects the process of agricultural development and farmers' income. Such a situation exists not only in Guangdong Province, but also in many places, and it is very universal. Behind Xu Wen's unsalable pineapple is a dilemma of agricultural technology promotion that must be solved. Xu Wen's "spinolan" is a warning event for the popularization of agricultural technology and the development of modern agriculture.
