On June 1, when the sun spread to the earth through the mist, 100 big-eared goats opened their sleepy eyes and enjoyed the breakfast carefully prepared by their owner Guo Bing in the Jiulong group of Shuanghong Village, Yanzhu Township, Yingjing County.

Five years ago, Guo Bing "invited" 100 big-eared goats from Jianyang to settle in the Kowloon group and began his own process of large-scale breeding of big-eared goats.

Over the past five years, Guo Bing has experienced hardships and sorrows such as the mass death of breeding and breeding, the "breaking up" of partners, and the sale of sheep to save the base, but he did not admit defeat or say defeat, allowing big-eared goats to thrive in the Kowloon group, as well as the lonely barren mountains with popularity and vitality.

Do not admit that the breeding base "narrowly escaped death"

On the morning of the 1st, in the Kowloon Group of Shuanghong Village, Yanzhu Township, Yingjing County, the mountain road was a little muddy after the rain. Drive along this road for two kilometers and you will arrive at Guo Bing's goat breeding base. At the gate of the base, there is a sign of "Yanzhu Township Da'er Shan Sheep Cooperative". Entering the base, the wooden enclosure is slightly humble, and the lattice of equal size is the home of the big-eared goat. After breakfast, some goats paced with a fat belly, while others went back to sleep.

"although there are only 100 goats now, it is good for the base to survive." After turning around in the breeding base, Guo Bing frowned and pointed out the difficulties of raising big-eared goats.

Time goes back to 2011. Guo Bing, who has many years of experience in raising goats, and two comrades-in-arms raised money to set up a Da'er Goat Cooperative in Yanzhu Township, set up a goat breeding base in the local mountain forest, and purchased 100 big-eared goats from Jianyang.

This kind of goat is an excellent population formed by crossbreeding between imported Nubian goat and Jianyang local goat, and its breeding requirement is higher than that of ordinary goat. For the first time, 20 of 100 goats died because of non-standard technology, climate maladjustment and other reasons. With a bad start, Guo Bing's comrades-in-arms were afraid of losing too much, so they sprouted the idea of reselling the breeding base.

Seeing that the breeding base built by one hand should be changed, Guo Bing refused to admit defeat, so he bought back the shares of his comrades-in-arms and operated the breeding base on his own. Because of limited funds, Guo Bing could not afford to hire workers, so he had to "retire" to the mountains with his wife and two young children and take care of the affairs himself. Mowing, feeding, epidemic prevention, breeding. Since putting the family's hard work and livelihood into the goat base, Guo Bing and his wife have never slept in again.

"it is not a long-term solution to work for the three children in the family who go to school." Over the past five years, watching the birth of lambs and the successful sale of mutton sheep, Guo Bing and his wife firmly believe that the development of big-eared sheep farming is not only a basis for survival, but also a hope of getting rich.

Even if the market is bad, Guo Bing does not admit defeat when he has to sell breeder sheep to maintain the operation of the base. "at least, there were only 20 sheep." In retrospect, Guo Bing did not know where he had the courage to persist at that time.

With this tenacity, Guo Bing's breeding base "narrowly escaped death." over the years, lambs have been sold one batch after another, and the meat has fattened column after column, which is "more cost-effective than working."

Fight against poverty-stricken breeding base

Every morning, as soon as Guo Bing entered the enclosure, the big-eared goat would reflexively put its head out of the railing, waiting to add fodder. Watching the goat eat hard, Guo Bing would whisper, "eat quickly, grow quickly." After feeding the goats, Guo Bing sent the two younger children to study in the county on a motorcycle.

"it is fed once every morning and evening, and after improving the method, our workload has been reduced a lot." Guo Bing said that the big-eared sheep eat two meals a day, and used to eat grass sooner or later. After changing the meal standard, the grass will be green in the morning and grain in the evening. After eating a "nutritious meal", the coat color of the big-eared sheep is better, and the workload of Guo Bing and his wife mowing grass is naturally reduced.

Last year, the first secretary of Shuanghong Village came, and Guo Bing also ushered in a new opportunity for development.

"after Secretary Gao came, he helped open the highway." Guo Bing looked at the 3 km rough road that had just been opened and said that this road is also one of the reasons restricting the development of his base. At that time, Guo Bing partnered with others to build a breeding base, which was still a lonely green hill, and the trail was covered with weeds.

In order to support the development of Guo Bing and others, Yanzhu Township won policy support to help Guo Bing widen the road to one meter and hardened it. Over the years, Guo Bing has relied on this road and a motorcycle to get in and out. Looking along the direction of Guo Bing's fingers, the road is 2 km long on one side and 1 km on the other. Guo Bing said that these two roads lead to different directions, and it will be more convenient to sell sheep in the future.

On both sides of the road, the vegetation is lush, and there is a piece of flat land adjacent to the breeding base. Guo Bing said that that is the spare land for him to expand, and when the road infrastructure is improved, he will raise funds, find partners who are interested in farming, build a standardized breeding base, expand the scale of breeding, and invite people who are willing to develop to join cooperatives to jointly breed big-eared sheep.

Gao Peng, first secretary of Shuanghong Village, said that taking Guo Bing, a large farmer, as the leader, with the help of Yanzhu Township Da'er Goat Cooperative, the standardized breeding of goats was introduced, and then radiation led to the development of the local people. Shuanghong Village is a good way to get rid of poverty and increase income.

Guo Bing and his wife have agreed to invite the "mother's family" of the big-eared sheep, the Jianyang merchants who originally provided him for breeding and breeding, to enter Shuanghong Village to build a comprehensive breeding base that integrates breeding, processing, and sales, so as to solve their own sales worries. Let the big-ear goat live on in Shuanghong Village, but also let the road to increase income to become rich is wider and wider.
