In Duping Village, Longsheng Town, Longsheng Autonomous County, mountain terraces, which have only grown rice for generations, have suddenly changed in the past year or two.

Thick green vines climb all over the hillside along the scaffolding, and the fruit as big as duck eggs is covered with vines. This poor mountain village, which has never been the producing area of Siraitia grosvenorii, began to plant 300mu of Siraitia grosvenorii last year, and this year it has soared to 1200 mu. Autumn is crisp, golden rice and green vine waves embrace each other, making people relaxed and happy.

The terraces on another hillside become like non-fields: each small piece is drawn to mountain springs with bamboo tubes or plastic pipes, the water is knee-deep, rice is sparse, weeds are allowed to grow, duckweed is still floating on the surface, and flocks of fat carps can be seen under the water. This is for farmers to slightly transform their rice fields and develop mountain spring fish culture.

Guangxi Daily helps six villages in Longsheng, and Duping Village is one of them. In early September, the newspaper organized its subordinate counterpart support units to go to offer condolences and research, and was pleased to see that the first secretary of the village, backed by the newspaper office, led farmers to develop "short and fast" projects that rapidly changed the face.

Planting Siraitia grosvenorii on sloping land in poor mountain villages has unexpectedly some advantages over planting on flat land: first, the land use area is larger; second, the sun exposure conditions are better; third, pollination and picking under the scaffolding do not have to raise your head and raise your hand. Save hard work and less hard work.

Planting Siraitia grosvenorii in spring and autumn harvest is easier than planting rice; the income from selling fruit per mu is 6000-8000 yuan, which is more expensive than planting rice. The whole town of Longsheng has planted nearly 10,000 mu of Siraitia grosvenorii this year, which is beginning to take shape. Local brokers are responsible for the acquisition, and the sales are guaranteed. Of the five poor households helped by the newspaper in pairs in Duping Village, four have Siraitia grosvenorii, less than 4 mu, more than 10 mu, and 1.5 mu per capita, which alone is expected to reach 10,000 yuan this year.

Among these five poor households, Huang Weixing, over 50 years old, did not plant Siraitia grosvenorii, but found another way to transform terraced fields to develop mountain spring fish farming. Mountain spring water comes from high mountains, has no energy consumption cost, runs continuously all the year round, and is always natural and clean. It is a very authentic ecological fish culture to plant some rice in the paddy field, let the grass flowers fall into the water to feed the fish, and feed the forage rice bran and so on. Last autumn, on a small terraced field with a total area of one and a half mu and a dozen or so pieces, Huang Weixing released 9000 carp fry, which now weigh seven or eight, and the meat is so delicious that he can directly make "stabbing" edible sashimi. After people from the city came to taste it, they offered 80 yuan / kg to buy it in large quantities. On this basis, it is conservatively estimated that even if only 6000 fish fry are harvested, they will weigh half a kilogram in autumn and winter, the total income from selling fish can reach 24000 yuan, and the output value per mu of carp is 16000 yuan-- not only far more than growing rice, but also more than planting Luohanguo.

After the representatives of the newspaper's counterpart support units bought and tasted fish on the spot, they immediately encouraged Huang Weixing to expand production and agreed to mobilize colleagues of the unit to "buy" his ecological fish at a good price of not less than 100 yuan / kg.

Huang Weixing, who raised fish for the first time in his life, was very happy, saying that he had bred 20,000 to 30,000 fish fry himself, and was preparing to expand the culture area, and the next step would be to encourage other farmers to cultivate terraced carp in mountains and springs.

Chen Jianjun, first secretary of the newspaper in the village, said that poverty alleviation workers adopt such methods as looking for technical support in industry and financial support for the purchase of means of production. Duping Village, on the one hand, develops "short and fast" projects such as Luohanguo, passion fruit, and mountain spring fish; on the other hand, it develops medium-and long-term projects such as Ganoderma lucidum, Camellia oleifera, and Chinese herbal medicines, so that poor families can quickly get rid of poverty and ensure stable prosperity.

Under the thick green scaffolding, the fruit the size of duck eggs is covered with vines. This poor mountain village, which has never been the producing area of Siraitia grosvenorii, began to plant 300mu of Siraitia grosvenorii last year, and this year it has soared to 1200 mu.

The terraced fields on this slope are like non-fields: each small piece is led to mountain springs with bamboo tubes or plastic pipes, rice is sparse, weeds are allowed to grow, and groups of fat carps can be seen under the water. This is for farmers to slightly transform their rice fields and develop mountain spring fish culture.
