Comprehensive report on the through train for agriculture, rural areas and farmers: in mid-autumn, autumn is high and crisp. The reporter came to a modern farming community named "Sun and Moon Animal Husbandry" located on the Gobi Desert along the Minqin to Hongshagang highway. Here, we met Wang Weiji, a 43-year-old farmer from Huayuan Village, Minqin County.

To start a business based on one's hometown

Wuwei City has vigorously promoted the main production mode of "facility agriculture and animal husbandry + characteristic forest and fruit industry" since 2011. Wang Weiji invested 350000 yuan to build a high-standard sheep raising district, built 1200 square meters of sheep house, and built disinfection room, duty room, feed room, water, electricity, road and other supporting facilities. the annual feeding capacity of the breeding community reached 1800, 1000 lambs and fattening sheep were sold annually, and the annual sales income was about 1 million yuan. These are just a small step on the road to the construction of the breeding community.

The number of stockpiles is getting larger and larger, and the original area of the breeding community has gradually become an objective factor restricting the continuous expansion of the breeding scale. in this case, Wang Weiji plans to build another standardized sheep-raising community on the north side of the original community.

In order to do a good job in community planning, Wang Weiji visited the farming communities with higher standards in the county, and went to Shandong, Jiangsu and other places for on-the-spot investigation and study. After drawing lessons from the advanced experience of local farming communities, he began to do the design himself, scientifically arranging the location, scale, and internal facilities of infrastructure such as sheep shed, disinfection room, duty room, office room, and so on, and rationally plan the roads and greening areas of the district.

From planning and design to construction, he is busy with construction during the day and designs at night, every link is in accordance with the highest specifications and standards to ensure the quality of the project. After more than 200 days and nights of hard work, in October 2013, Wang Wei raised funds and invested 3.5 million yuan to build a Pleasant Goat breeding community with an enclosure area of 6000 square meters on the Gobi desert. A total of 10 brick and steel structures were standardized and double-row sheep houses were built. The single-family enclosure covers an area of 600m2, and the enclosure adopts three-dimensional lighting with good thermal insulation effect. According to the needs of production, awnings were built around the activity field, forage sheds, concentrate rooms, feed processing rooms, office rooms, disinfection rooms and duty rooms were built, 2 sets of towerless automatic water feeders were installed, information network 3G management technology was enabled, and 20 monitoring probes were set up to ensure safe production and scientific management in the community.

Borrow wisdom to make money and seek development

At the end of 2013, Wang Weiji looked for people with rich sheep raising skills and high level of management throughout the county to help him manage the breeding community. Later, a friend recommended Pan Fabin, a technician from Quanshan Town, Minqin County, who had been engaged in animal husbandry for many years. Wang Wei, who is thirsty for talent, has come to invite him. At first, Pan Fabin did not want to leave his hometown. Once he could not come, he went there twice, but if he could not invite him twice, he went there three times. Finally, Wang Weiji stopped talking about hiring and just asked him to have a look at his sheep farm and give him some guidance. When Pan Fabin came to the Gobi desert and saw such a large-scale and high-standard breeding community, he finally agreed to be the factory director of the Pleasant Goat breeding community.

At the same time, experts who master the specialties and systems of breed improvement, hybrid breeding and livestock and poultry epidemic prevention are also impossible or lacking for scientific communities. Wang Weiji through the introduction of Gansu Provincial Veterinary epidemic Station, learned that Professor Lang Xia of Gansu Agricultural University has professional breeding skills and has been engaged in sheep breeding for many years, so he asked Professor Lang to be his technical adviser and reached an agreement on cooperation between colleges and enterprises. The office space was built by Pleasant Sheep breeding District, and Professor Lang set up a scientific research team to set up a breeding laboratory integrating purebred breeding, breed improvement and artificial insemination of sheep.

In this way, the breeding community from variety improvement to epidemic prevention, from daily management to fattening out of the fence, step by step on the road of scientific development. By 2014, there will be 8000 sheep in the breeding community and 3000 ewes in pure breeding Hu sheep, with an annual sales income of nearly 10 million yuan.

Seek a new picture to be strong and realize a rich dream

In 2014, Wang Weiji established "Riyue Animal Husbandry Co., Ltd." on the basis of Pleasant Goat breeding area. He wants to build a modern enterprise that integrates fattening cattle and sheep, pure breeding of improved varieties, forage research and development, and disease prevention and control.

In 2015, he renovated the residential area, bringing the size of the two communities to 20,000 square meters. Under the guidance of experts, he introduced 1200 improved breeds of rams and 4600 basic ewes for improvement and breeding. In 2015, the company kept only 13000 sheep a year and produced more than 5000 commercial sheep, with a sales income of 12 million yuan.

This year, Wang Wei has built five high-standard cowhouses with an area of 14000 square meters, and imported 1500 beef cattle of Simmental, Angus, Haiford and other breeds from Australia. After half a year of transportation, isolation and adaptation, Wang Wei entered the livestock pen at the beginning of May and entered the normal stage of production. After the completion of the project, it is estimated that 500 beef cattle will be produced annually, with sales of 30 million yuan, radiation-driven employment of 60 people and labor income of 3 million yuan.

From a large-scale farming community to a modern farming enterprise, Wang Weiji has realized the transformation from a farmer to an entrepreneur in the continuous growth of his career, and has also seen a bright prospect of green development. (reporter Ma Shunlong)
