On September 25, 2016, the report meeting on the Technical achievements of Maize Seedling cutting and yield increasing was held at the base of Pangu Maize cutting and yield increasing Research Center in Langfang City. Professor Zhang Fenglu, head of the scientific research cooperation group of the center, doctoral supervisor of Hebei Agricultural University and corn expert, scientifically measured the yield of four varieties in the No. 2 experimental field of the center. Mr. Su Baojian, the technical inventor, guided and answered guests' questions on the spot. The central government and more than 20 news media participated in the on-the-spot observation and interview.

The No. 2 experimental field of the center has a total of 12 mu, which is divided into 2 pieces on average. Jinrui 88 and Nongda 372 are sown respectively, sowing on May 16 and cutting seedlings on June 5, each designed as two repeats, a total of 4 control groups and 4 seedling cutting groups. The results showed that the yield of Jinrui 88 control group was 325.5 jin per mu, the seedling cutting group was 524jin per mu, the yield was 61.2%, the control group was 931jin / mu, and the seedling cutting group was 1018 jin / mu, with an increase of 9.5%. The No. 1 experimental plot of the center was harvested on August 27. Two varieties of Heyu 187 and Zhengdan 958 were planted. Among them, the yield of Heyu 187control group was 972.5 jin per mu, while that of seedling cutting group was 1111.2 jin, with an increase of 14.3%; the yield of Zhengdan958 control group was 812.5 jin per mu, and that of seedling cutting group was 1036.1 jin, with an increase of 27.5%.

Professor Zhang Fenglu believes that after strict yield measurement, it is an indisputable fact that corn seedlings are cut to increase production. The range of yield increase is related to many factors, such as variety, soil and fertilizer conditions, weather and climate and so on. The scientific theoretical basis and reasons for increasing production need to be further studied and explored in practice.

Forty years ago, in 1976, Mr. Su Baojian discovered that cutting corn seedlings could increase production. Americans discovered this phenomenon in 1975 and conducted a three-year experimental observation at the University of Minnesota. The experimental group increased production by 9.4% to 29.31%. It is not known why the test results were not popularized and applied later, and it is speculated that it is related to the lack of corresponding mechanical means.

After Mr. Su left his post in 2012, he concentrated on the observation and research of corn seedling cutting and increasing production. After obtaining the preliminary observation data, in order to facilitate the popularization and application in a large area, he invented and developed the corn seedling cutting machine in two years, and obtained the national patent.

In 2015, corn seedling cutting technology attracted the attention of relevant central departments and relevant leaders of provinces and cities. The leaders in charge of agriculture in Hebei Province went to the base for observation and guidance many times, and the Maize system Office of the Ministry of Agriculture also sent experts to inspect it, affirming that corn seedling cutting has the effect of drought resistance and lodging resistance, and that it is necessary to carry out strict experimental observation on increasing production.

Professor Liu Chunji, Australia's chief agricultural scientist, visited the base in the spring of 2016 and believed that it was theoretically possible to cut corn seedlings and increase production. Under the guidance of Professor Liu Chunji, the center formed a scientific research cooperation group with Professor Zhang Fenglu of Hebei Agricultural University, and made rigorous scientific observation on all aspects of corn seedling cutting and yield increasing technology, laying a solid foundation for the popularization and application of this technology at an early date.

After a bumper harvest in the experimental field of the base in 2013, corn seedling cutting technology has been pushed around one after another. In 2014, nearly 100 mu of seedlings were cut around the base; in 2015, the scale of the experiment reached more than 1000 mu in some villages and towns in Anci District, Bazhou City and Tianjin City of Langfang City. Among them, Lu Guixiang and Liu Yushan, two farmers from Piatou Town, Anci District, have been cutting seedlings for three years in a row, and they have been enjoying this since they got a bumper harvest in the first year. In 2016, demonstration sites were set up in * *, Inner Mongolia, Heilongjiang, Jilin, Shanxi, Henan, Hebei, Anhui, Shandong, Tianjin and other places. From the results of sampling inspection during the filling period, it can be seen that the growth of demonstration corn is in line with expectations. Hongdong, Shanxi, which has been harvested, has achieved a good result of increasing production by 34.5%. So far, the total number of corn seedlings has reached more than 5000 mu.
