Last Updated: 2024/11/06, Villagers raise more than a thousand peacocks and they are called "Peacock King".

He Xiaogang, a villager of Dawei Village, Zhangqiao Township, Zhangqiao County, Zhecheng County, raised nearly 2000 blue peacocks, which not only became a scene in the village, but also became rich and became known as the "Peacock King". Now, he has registered to set up a professional cooperative for peacock farming, ready to drive the villagers to get rich together.

Recently, the reporter came to he Xiaogang's farm and saw hundreds of blue peacocks. He Xiaogang said that his wife also specializes in making specimens. "many companies call to order, but it takes peacocks at least three years to make specimens, and we can't take a large number of orders because of our limited scale."

It is understood that he Xiaogang, 53, has been raising laying hens for 20 or 30 years. Five years ago, he began to raise blue peacocks. "raising peacocks is much easier than raising chickens. After raising peacocks for two years, the results are good, so I bought some more. Now I have raised more than 1800, of which more than 400 are peacocks." He Xiaogang said.

Blue peacocks are covered with treasures, not only can be watched, but also can sell peacock eggs, peacock specimens and so on. The peacock seedlings cultivated by he Xiaogang have been sold to Wuhan, Guangzhou and other places, and many villagers call him "Peacock King".

He Xiaogang told reporters that raising blue peacocks is a surprise, and many people do not understand it and dare not raise it. Some people think that eating blue peacocks is illegal, but in fact, domestic blue peacocks can be sold and eaten.

The reporter learned from the Shangqiu Forestry Bureau that the green peacock belongs to the national first-class protected animal, and hunting is strictly prohibited; the blue peacock is a rare semi-herbivorous non-protected animal and can be raised and eaten.

He Xiaogang's farm has already obtained a business license and a license for domestication and breeding of wild animals. this year, he also registered to set up a peacock breeding cooperative to drive nearby villagers to jointly raise peacocks and provide one-stop services such as technology and epidemic prevention for villagers.
