"whether we are well-off or not depends on our fellow villagers." The key to whether ordinary people can live a well-off life lies in whether their pockets can be bulged; whether their pockets can be bulged up, the key lies in the development of the industry, which is a closely linked and interlinked chain.

The development of industry is essential to promote the rapid increase of farmers and herdsmen's income. Under the macro situation of comprehensively promoting accurate poverty alleviation, how to vigorously support and develop diversified and rich industries such as agriculture and animal husbandry with characteristics, agricultural products processing industry, labor economy and modern service industry in agricultural and pastoral areas, vigorously promote the "transformation of mode and structure" of agriculture and animal husbandry in poor areas, stimulate endogenous motivation and entrepreneurial struggle spirit, and speed up the pace of getting rid of poverty and becoming rich requires the joint efforts of those in power and the local people. After repeated market investigations and comparisons, Wang Shuyi and his wife found business opportunities for raising quails. After many frustrations and setbacks, they finally found a way to get rich.

Recently, the reporter saw the sale of locally produced quail eggs in some supermarkets and vegetable stores in Delingha. After learning about the source of quail eggs, the reporter came to Delingha breeding base in Koruko town. Walking into a specialized rural farming cooperative specializing in quail farming, four neat poultry houses were built. In addition to raising quails, the cooperative also had more than 2000 laying hens and more than 2000 meat-eating native chickens, such as black chickens, Chicken Wings and Legs with Brown Sauce, black native chickens, and so on.

There is a flash of business opportunity.

In the quail breeding room, there are only full-feathered quails in the attic-style cages, either looking for food leisurely or competing for food, twittering incessantly. Small and exquisite quail eggs are filled with small pots by workers, and this worker who is collecting quail eggs is Wang Shuyi, the first major quail farmer in Delingha and the head of a professional cooperative for pastoral farming. The smiling man in his 50s looked very capable. When he discovered that quail breeding in Delingha area was still blank, he raised funds from many aspects and introduced 20000 seedlings at a time. He began to embark on a poultry breeding road dominated by quail farming and supplemented by native chicken farming, and made a big deal in characteristic breeding.

When talking about the idea of raising quails in the first place, Wang Shuyi recalled that before raising quails, the money bags of the husband and wife were bulged by raising chickens in captivity a few years ago, and after they tasted the sweetness of raising chickens, I couldn't help but think of raising special birds. But what to raise makes it difficult for Wang Shuyi. In Delingha, there are so many people raising wolfberry chickens, geese and other wild birds, and the scale is not small. If they are the same as others, their income will certainly not be as high as that of others. After repeated market investigation and comparison, the couple found that no one raised quails in Delingha area, but the market price of quail eggs was much higher than that of eggs, and some quails had the functions of tonifying qi and blood, strengthening the body and brain, and their nutritional value was twice that of eggs. Quail meat is also a delicacy on the table of many people and has a good market prospect in Hong Kong. Why not raise some quail? In the face of this "flying" wealth, Wang Shuyi saw the market development space, after some thinking, Wang Shuyi and his wife resolutely decided to do a great job in quail farming.

With the support and encouragement of his wife, Wang Shuyi invested all the money they had earned from their hard work outside for many years. In 2015, he contracted 15 mu of land at the breeding base of Keluko Town, Delingha City, built four poultry houses, and set up a pastoral farming cooperative to prepare for quail breeding. Lao Wang is willing to learn from hard work and bear hardships. In the past few years, we have also explored a lot of breeding experience in raising chickens. He has mastered all the breeding experience, such as disinfection, vaccination, feed feeding, and so on. At first, I thought that with the experience of raising chickens, it was easier to raise quails again, but when I really raised quails, I knew that it was not the same thing at all. " Wang Shuyi's wife, Tian Chunxiang, said: "quails are much more difficult to raise than chickens, especially seedlings have higher requirements for temperature and humidity. In mid-June this year, we bought back more than 20,000 quail seedlings in the first batch, and thousands of quail seedlings died in the course of transportation. after arriving in Delingha, a large number of seedlings died in the first half of the month because they could not adapt to the local climate. How to reduce death, how to ensure the survival rate of seedlings, how to ensure the laying rate of quails when they grow up, and so on, are all very important things, and none of them should be careless. We must constantly explore the living habits of quails and master scientific breeding skills. " In early August, the quails they raised began to lay eggs one after another, which made the couple full of longing for quail farming.

Overcome all difficulties in breeding quails

Everything is difficult at the beginning, and the initial stage of starting a business is always full of hardships. Wang Shuyi, who has always had rich experience in raising chickens, has to be said to be a layman in raising quails. due to lack of experience in raising quails, the first batch of quail seedlings he just bought will die every day in the first few days. Watching a large number of quails die, Wang Shuyi saw it in his eyes and worried in his heart. He even thought that it might not be suitable to raise quail at all on a dry and cold plateau, but on second thought, he thought that starting a business was not an easy task, and that he would experience many frustrations and setbacks if he wanted to succeed.

On the fourth day after quail seedlings were purchased, Wang Shuyi simply lived in the quail house to take good care of the seedlings. In the process, he discovered the real cause of the continuous death of the seedlings: it turned out that the quail seedlings had very high requirements for temperature and humidity, but even in the middle of June on the plateau, as the temperature dropped after nightfall, the poultry house could not reach the temperature needed for the seedlings to grow. Knowing the crux of the problem, Wang Shuyi immediately set up two big stoves in the poultry house to raise the temperature to about 36 ℃. Without advanced constant temperature control, how can we ensure that the indoor 36 ℃ remains the same? There is no machine control, so we can only control it ourselves. In order to ensure temperature and humidity, Wang Shuyi had to sprinkle water in the poultry house three times a night and keep an eye on the thermometer all the time. So Wang Shuyi was busy day and night for half a month. Under his careful care, the quail chicks grew up day by day, and the mortality rate dropped to zero. 20 days later, the mature quails began to be raised in cages. Wang Shuyi smiled happily, and his small success gave him hope.

In order to raise quails well, Wang Shuyi began to learn from many aspects. By learning from experts, querying relevant materials on the Internet, watching videos and listening to lectures, Wang Shuyi seriously learned farming techniques. Through continuous study and practice, he gradually mastered the key technical points of raising quail, such as temperature control, humidity control, ingredient, epidemic prevention and so on, and accumulated some breeding experience.

"Technology is the key to aquaculture, and it is absolutely impossible without excellent aquaculture technology and experience." Wang Shuyi told reporters. "while studying and groping, I have now mastered some breeding experience, and next time I buy back quail seedlings, I will know how to feed them. Quails grow so fast that the seedlings can grow in about 20 days, lay eggs in 50 days, and reach the peak of egg production in 60 days. After quails are raised in cages, the temperature of the poultry house should be controlled at about 25 ℃ all the year round. In order to prevent quails from getting sick due to turbid air during breeding, no more than 30 quails can be raised in each cage, and the enclosure should be cleaned once a week. In addition, the enclosure needs to be thoroughly disinfected frequently to prevent disease and plague. In the process of feeding, it is also necessary to keep the water in the tank uninterrupted, and pay attention to the temperature, ventilation, light, and humidity of the enclosure. When the temperature drops in winter, the enclosure must be sealed with film and meadow to keep warm. " Today's Wang Shuyi has already made sense when it comes to breeding experience.

Little quail opens the door to getting rich.

After continuous exploration and learning, the couple initially mastered the technology of quail breeding, and gradually tasted the sweetness of quail farming. The first batch of quails introduced by the cooperative currently has more than 10,000 quails in stock. under the careful management of the couple, they are growing well, the mortality rate has been greatly reduced, and the survival rate has reached more than 90%. In early August, quails raised by Wang Shuyi laid eggs one after another, with an average daily egg production of about 160 jin. During the peak period, they could produce about 200 jin a day, which were mainly sold to Delingha City. Quail eggs also gradually won the market because of their local production, good taste and high nutritional value.

Quails usually start laying eggs in about 40 days, and reach the peak of laying eggs in about 50 days on the plateau and reach their peak in 60 days. From the beginning of laying eggs, you can't change the feed for quails casually. Generally, they are fed twice a day in the morning and evening, and they have to be supplied regularly and rationally. Quail feed for laying eggs must have a certain protein content. Quails lay eggs only when the temperature is above 20 degrees, so the temperature in the poultry house is usually controlled at about 25 degrees, not hot and cold, so that quail eggs are more stable. Quails must be raised carefully. A little carelessness will affect the laying rate of quails. " Tian Chunxiang introduced that she told reporters that after the quails they raised began to lay eggs, the husband and wife finally let go of their hanging hearts.

"Quail eggs have high nutritional value and are considered to be 'ginseng among animals', and more and more people like to eat them." According to Wang Shuyi, at present, the average daily egg production of quails in the cooperative is 160 jin, which is wholesale to various points of sale at the ex-factory price of 9 yuan per catty. Calculated according to the laying period of five to six months a year, the income is quite considerable. Apart from selling quail eggs to the outside world, the eliminated quails can also be sold to restaurants for human consumption, thus increasing their income. Apart from the cost of feed and labor, quails can always earn money in a year, and their good prospects have strengthened their determination to raise quails.

When he walked out of the poultry house, he saw a worker carrying boxes of quail eggs into the car. Tian Chunxiang told reporters that now is the peak season for quail laying, and these eggs are going to be transported to some supermarkets and vegetable shops in Delingha. At present, quail farming in the cooperative is becoming more and more prosperous day by day. Talking about future planning, Wang Shuyi said with a look of expectation: "in the next year or two, if the market momentum is good, we hope that we can continue to expand the scale of breeding farms and turn small quails into a big industry."
